Some things to keep in mind in case you aren't familiar: the shadow malevolent treemen are the only ones who get access to the insidious glamour ability which fixes the debuff to wood elf units. Not sure if you ever plan to have wood elves in your armies, but if you are aiming for it then keep that in mind. There's also an office that gives insidious glamor so I recommend not giving that slot to a shadows Treeman

You might want to get the jungles of CHian in Cathay, it has a building for -30% upkeep for all forrest spirits

I'm interested to see, how effective the heathlands raising will turn out. I found the growth buildings for growth to adjacent provinces quite helpful for the trees, but this way you get your forest health up quicker.

Further note: the campaign mission is bugged. You can never destroy the waystones but the mission should still complete normally if you manage to defeat all the enemy units like a domination battle. There is a mod to try and fix the bugs with the mission if you experience issues

Razing is useful but claiming them and putting growth buildings helps boost low level trees.

Protip, Wood Elves have access to a frankly overpowered follower called the "Forest Spirit," which lowers enemy leadership in the region, and cna be equipped by both lords and heroes. IIRC, it has a small chance to drop anytime a character (either and both lords or heroes) wins a battle.

I normally find it better to clear the hearthland then occupy so you can clear corruption and make a bubble of control around each tree. You get the growth bonus for clearing and then you build the buildings that give you trade items or just growth to deny the living your territory.

Oh shit, a Ruinous campaign I'll actually be able to follow from Turn 1, in (almost) real time! What great night this has become! Totally optional, selfish-on-my-part side request: when you're ready for them, take down all of the Rouge Pirates--I’ve become intensely fascinated in those factions over the past week or so and am curious to see how different major (and modded, tbh) factions handle those very distinct armies…even if dealing with them benefits you in virtually no way, other than the XP and whatever else you pull off their corpses. Also am trying to find IE gameplay of them to see if a)their compositions are exactly the same as they were in Aye-Aye! patch, and b)for future reference, whenever I finally get around to buying this trilogy myself

Just started this so not sure how far ahead you are in episode 2 but as a heads up: Drycha's quest to get Coeddil is (was last I played anyway) bugged. She does not get Coeddil upon completion so you may have to use a mod or something to get him. The only one I know of is one that lets you start with him. I hope it's fixed though.
