Love H. I never said slavery was okay. I just stated a fact that is covered up. African royalty was complicit with the British slave trade. When it’s become a social norm to use “slavery” as an excuse for multigenerational poverty and discrimination. Why don’t blacks ever talk about how they became slaves in the first place? Black lives matter is writing demands for white people on the pretence of slavery.

Dear Derrick M., I'm also glad that neither you nor I were born even 100 years ago. It was only 150 years ago our people were enslaved. That's how recently it was. Thanks to our ancestors, upon whose shoulders we stand, it is hard for you to imagine such a time. I'm a little bit older than you. I can totally imagine it. The psychological incapacity it takes for one person to believe he can OWN another person takes generations to develop. It grows out of the "Devine right of kings", noblesse oblige, white supremacy and eugenics. There needs to be more studies done on "white people". This is their problem, not ours. If you have not read "The Isis Papers", avail yourself a copy ( Dr. Frances Cress Welsing). Remember that racism is a social construct, not biological. As African Americans living in this 21st century, we are a unique people. We have survived, adapted, and thrived. No one knows white people better than we. They have shown us who they are. Believe them.

We are STILL slaves. Marked at birth with a certificate and number, can’t drive, marry, hunt or operate a business without a license, can’t leave the country with a passport and you will forever pay taxes on property and everything else. Now they have you running scared wearing a mask just like a slave muzzle because the only way they control the majority with lies and his-story. When you forget TRUE history, you’re doomed to repeat it.

@@kendallwright7222 While I agree that the amount of ceratin one has in his subdermis does not make us "races" of any kind, the difference in superficial looks has always been made into social dividers. The white-faced upper class of medieval feudal society ladies who fled the sun to stay light and "noble", the brutal subjugation the dark-skinned nilotes of the upper nile against tha Bantu-people of lighter brown who where enslaved for not being of the fire but of the earth. The Chinese Xin-upperclass who viewed men that could grow beards as half-animals, not fit for any good position in the world. We might all be one race, and geneticists sure tell us we humans are such an inbred bunch that even rabbits in england and in france are far mor genetically distinct than an inuit, an australian blackfellow and a celtish firehead are to each other. But NEVER underestimate the need of humans to divide betwen "us" and "them". Its not just economic enslavement, its so very human. Sadly.

The Irish slave myth is pretty big, yes there were indentured servants and even Irish slaves in other countries mostly the Middle East, but in America they didn’t Have Irish slaves pretty much past the 1800s-present if they did it was down right illegal.
@billyaepicgamer8642

The indentured servant vs slavery is a useless semantic battle. The UK's servitude with the Indians, Irish, and Africans was just as bad as slavery. That said, actual Irish people on /r/Ireland on Reddit hate the fact their oppression under British and American powers is being used to punch down Black people and downplay slavery.

Nathan Hoang he was probably speaking on the first generation slaves... most slaves were dark skinned and had incoherent English since English was not their native language, however as slavery went on there was many cases of plantation owners who did this. But plantation owners were a minority with the most slaves.... basically every day regular slaves not under plantation owners but rather a smaller family were usually not raped by the owner since they were no where near as powerful as a plantation owner.

"At first, man was enslaved by the gods. But he broke their chains. Then he was enslaved by the kings. But he broke their chains. He was enslaved by his birth, by his kin, by his race. But he broke their chains. He declared to all his brothers that a man has rights which neither god nor king nor other men can take away from him, no matter what their number, for his is the right of man, and there is no right on earth above this right. And he stood on the threshold of freedom for which the blood of the centuries behind him had been spilled." ― Ayn Rand, Anthem

Like at the beginning he said that the enslaved population was worth 20-30% of the wealth in the US but then he said that it was worth more than all the factories, all the stocks, all the capital? I’m wondering about the math of that evaluation. Also 3rd speaker said that the colonies were somehow unique because slavery was inherited...chattel slavery was not created in the colonies? It predates the the columbian exchange.

Yes, slavery was a dark time in history. We cannot forget it like it’s nothing. White ppl weren’t the only race selling and buying slaves. But it’s was 80% white ppl selling or buying slaves. But not every white person was like that. Some tried to get slaves free. But we can all say that African Americans, my ancestors, went through a lot and a very dark time period.

The reason the Mexican 🇲🇽 province of Texas was balkanized was because the central Mexican government of General Santa Anna declared slavery illegal in Texas. (Mexico had abolished slavery since 1810). This did not please at all the US-American immigrants who wanted to keep slavery as a form of work. The Mexican soldiers who defended the territorial integrity of Mexico in the battle of the Alamo are actually the good guys from a badly told story.

Most horrid. "...no person can be the owner of another human being." ~ Baha'u'llah, Baha'i Faith, about 189. Years later, Baha'u'llah wrote to Queen Victoria "...you did a wonderful thing; you abolished chattel (personal property) slavery; but today you must do a much more wonderful thing: you must abolish industrial slavery."

God works in mysterious ways. I've seen accounts of Africans living terribly oppressive Hellish lives in extreme poor conditions in their native Africa lands that they prayed for some miracle by God to be taken away by any means to a new better world where even slavery would be better than the living conditions in Africa as it was. They prayed to God and God answered their prayers and took them to America where they were provided food, shelter, and clothing in exchange for labor. Not a day went past without them thanking God for His miracle
