He probably knows this, but I don't want to take a chance. If Miah cuts those trees beware that the trunk often flips back into place after the main weight of the tree is cut off, so make sure no one is standing in that space.

During Sandy in NY, i had a lady approach me on a street saying she has no food left and can't cook with anything. I've asked if her stove is a gas stove - it turns out it is, and she just didn't know that she could cook and boil water, she was so happy 😊 In the whole neighborhood, only 1 store had a generator and offered free charging of cell phones - the store owner has helped so many of us at the time - people started to come onto the streets asking each other if they are Ok. A street of cars was at a stand still - all out of gas, so the roads were shut, but the beach had foragers already. When people help each other it is very valuable ! I was alone with a child at the time and was very scared, but the neighbors made me feel safer ! But to this day I always keep a hand saw in my car.

Just because you have a gas stove does not mean you can use it during a major storm or power outage. Gas stoves nowadays are electric starts and if powers out you can’t light the stove

@jadeswrapsandbraids Mine was working with a match - i did mention to the lady what I did know myself, she did not try to light her stove with a match. It was over 10 years ago, and a lot has changed since then, though. But she had hope and ran home to at least try - I am sure her husband has helped.😊 It was the time when neighbors were helping each other !

Get you an Anker generator! Very affordable and many sizes. Ours also has added solar panel. Stays charged forever. We love ours and able to power a lot of different appliances. Gives us plenty time to get our gas generator going.
@Jaynes-PathАй бұрын
We have used our generator for post hurricane power several times. We would plug in the freezer and refrigerator for long enough to stay cold until the next charging time, as long as nobody opened the door. Things like the milk, condiments, cheese etc that I'd need for the next meal I'd open the door and it went into a cooler with other frequent items and drinks, then bring it back to temp by using the generator. We had to do this for 10 days with the last hurricane and 2 weeks with the one before that. I'd make a new pot of coffee every time it was running and keep it warm in a thermos. Not having everything in the freezers be a total loss saved us so much money!
@ERAforALLАй бұрын
@@Jaynes-PathI kept frozen jugs of water in my freezer. During power outages, I put one in the fridge. It isn’t as effective for long term outages, but we did save our perishables during a 24-hour outage. This also helps keep additional potable water on hand.
