I wish I'd done more than take on this...I was so out of time with the click. I hope that you guys can do better. Do as I say, not what I do...or something like that :D

By the way, I was recording on physical tape at this point. I would have to unplug, rewind the tape, and then check that what I played was in time. I was very new to this. It was a simple life!

www.DrumsTheWord.com I got a merit thanks to you! I’ve been busy with other things but I learnt this song in a short space of time and got a distinction on this piece! When it got to this bit I remembered the fills and nailed it. Thanks so much for your help.

Haha, that's a great joke. I also have a tip someone told me once; "if you make a mistake once then repeat it, now it's no longer a mistake" :)

Does getting married count? Luckily I never got hitched so that wasn't a mistake.

Hey Man! I have been looking for this solo for ever. I also appreciate you not cutting the mistakes out of the videos. It makes you seem more human, and that you are learning along with us. Thanks again! :)

@NorthBroadcast Good question! I prefer electronic drums to record because it's simply easier. They're also perfectly tuned every time, as if by magic ;) You can't beat (no pun intended) the feel and sound of real drums though! Rob

Rob, thanks so much for this lesson and your generosity in sharing your knowledge. Good tips on dealing with "so-called" mistakes and continuing on, boy am I familiar with that one. There's a joke: "if you repeat a mistake, then it becomes jazz!" :D

This is great, already knew the song except for the solo bit in which I always left out the crash but you're a really good teacher just in the way you are - not too serious but not too laid back!

@Arigatex You took the words right out of my mouth, dude. Thanks for answering this for me! Good news is that I do already have a short video of me playing one of the grooves from Dance of Eternity. Just type "Dance of Eternity drum lesson" into the KZbin search box and I should come up. It's not a full drum lesson but at least it's something. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! Rob

@DrumsTheWord See the fa da le dump is that the same fill used in the song "These Days" off the foo fighters new album Wasting Light?
@RonSissons11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the lesson. It helped tremendously. I cannot seem to get the crash on the fa de le dump, so I leave the crash out. Otherwise, great. Do yknow what Taylor does coming out of the chorus?

@gkc25 as much as we all like that idea, dance of eternity is a real pain to put into tabs not to mention long and everchanging. I don't think he has enough time to put that much time to a single proyect like that...not to mention the youtube video would be like 5 hours long...
