Spotted gar are not an invasive species and are actually a threatened species in Canada and some northern states

They are native to North America my man, they aren’t invasive in any state. Pricks kill them out of spite just like they do Bowfin and Bullheads.

I just bought a cheap box of treble hooks and stuck it in the end o the rope and melted the rope around it

Gar are pretty necessary for all water systems, they control baitfish populations and often just kill smaller bluegill and baitfish, Alligator gar are probably worse because they have a big enough mouth to kill a trophy largemouth or Bluegill.

No they more easily eat carp or large shad. I’m not saying they don’t eat LMB but they probably eat more sucker species because there are not as many large fish in rivers

I am sure that they often are eaten by bass and other fish.
