Great points are made about slaughter however, theirs a couple things missing. You can rescue as many horses from killpens but those killpen buyers will still fill their quota. The horses that are going to auction are just the ones that have more of a likelihood of being sold with the emotional attachment of “save this horse, it’s going to slaughter”. In my personal opinion, slaughter is a great thing right now. Overpopulation is a crazy thing and not just with horses but other animals too. Until the United States start putting strict laws for licensed breeding, wellbred breeding & requiring people to license their animals with their state/county, nothing will change. You see a bunch of people breeding grade horses with no proven record and then pawning them off for a quick buck or the people breeding “doodles” for once again a quick buck, is a direct contribution to the killpens, shelters, etc. Great video !!

Unfortunately yes, as long as ASIAB keeps rescuing from the auctions and even the kill pens, the kill buyers will continue to earn money - the other side of it though is with each rescue, someone else notices. They post all of the horses stories they rescue on social media. Some are here since the day the rescued Rescue1 some are here since Rescue200 - but no matter where it got someones attention, the continuation of the rescue is what's helping draw the attention and at the end of the day - saving lives. I wish there were a way to do both, to help with the overpopulation issue and process horses that are going to be within the surplus while also helping the ones who are obviously someones best friend, but right now there isn't. The biggest problem is you have people bringing in horses who may be someone's old companion horse of 15 years - still has many years on them, and knows SOOO much knowledge that they are the perfect fit for some random child, but you've got the other side of the spectrum a horse coming in with cancer lumps all over the body and who is going to suffer the journey for the next 72 hours. When theres 700+ horses going through the auction (and this is over the span of 3 days for this auction) there's so many horses to keep track of. Something has to change, and I'm not sure where that line is - but there's still SOO many people out there who doesn't even know this still exists :/

Completely new to this game, and im probably gonna check it out once i finish this video, but i just want to say I'm so glad the consumption of horse meat wasnt demonized in the video and the focus was put on the real problems with how unethical kill pens are.

I have no problem with anyone eating what they want to eat - it's your body. But we SHOULD be aware of where those things came from and how it's processed and that's one of the biggest issues in the system right now.

I loved this video and am definitely interested in checking it out, even though it’s not my normal taste in browser games. The site has been pulled up! However, I have to disagree that the majority of folks who play horse games are not aware of what’s going on in the real horse world. I have been playing online horse games since ~1996 (AOL board based, email based, web based, forum based, browser, and so on and so forth) and the entire time most of my peers have been actively riding and the majority of us grew up to be horse owners or heavily involved. There are, of course, folks who play these games who are not IRL horse people, but a large reason horse game communities are so demanding of standards in games is because we know our stuff. It’s important to recognize that the demographic is not just the horseless.

I mean mostly younger audiences, I have a lot of young 14-16 year old girls from like SSO communities and most of those don't know. Even the horseless population who aren't horse gamers - like regular people I work with in my retail job have no idea about this system going on with horses. I think it's just good to educate the masses :)

Hey rattle, so i don't know if you know about this already, but emerald valley ranch got an update today! I honestly thought the game was dead, but i got a notification earlier on my switch saying it had updated. From what I've gathered, the update is mostly just the addition of arabian horses as a paid dlc, similar to the Irish cob. I doubt this is big enough an update for it to be a video, but i wanted to let you know since you're like an overseer of horse games haha.

Exactly! Like I've been playing this game for a year and the amount of new features and stuff that has been added far surpasses other horse games, so it is not stuck in that limbo phase where a lot of horse games are at (which is amazing considering that this game is only being developed by one person and not by a whole team of people). I mean what got me hooked on the game was the feature that it was turned-based and that it had genetics, which sadly, I have not come across any other horse web browser game with those two features.

Just a PSA: do not buy horses from ads claiming that the horse is going to be sent to slaughter if not purchased within a certain period of time. These people are not rescuers, they are kill buyers who buy horses from auctions for slaughter price then mark up the price and attempt to resell the horse by emotionally manipulating the public into thinking they 'rescued' the horse. If they bought the horse, there's no reason why it would go to slaughter other than they themselves choose to sell it off again specifically to another kill buyer or directly into the pipeline. So why should you not buy the horse? Because you only give them funds so they can continue this horrific cycle and by purchasing the horse you give them the means of buying 3, 4, 5 more horses that they will do the exact same thing to. It's horrible and it needs to stop, but the only way it can is if we as the public educate ourselves in recognizing why these are scams and refuse to support them financially. If you wish to rescue a horse, please go to a real horse rescue and adopt one.

you guys should totally add some pigs too UwU lol but srsly this game itself is fantastic i see myself playing it for a while with most games as she says herself in the video most are just horse game and to be honest in my opinion horse games gets boring after awhile and thinking well i got all the horses i just never log back on but this game it just like i see so much of potential for it there are so many color varieties and there are more then JUST horses also keep on doing what your good at and follow your dreams

The slaughter and BLM part really makes it clear (yet again) that people had a nice idea on paper but did not bother checking for loopholes, greyzones or just general stupid holes in the whole thing. And even afterwards they do not bother fixing it. Which would be easy: Make shipping horses outside the US other than for personal owners (small numbers of horses only) the only legal option and make sure people do NOT get non-sterilized horses that can be sold (mark them with a damn brand, tattoo and maybe even a chip just to be safe). There is many options to fix these things, but the people in charge obviously do not care. EDIT: I do very much love that this dev brings attention to these things. Especially since young people will likely never know otherwise. Definitely will try to play this game (sadly right now I cannot fill out the name field, some text is blocking it XD), it looks lovely and is definitely made with passion and thought put into things. That's always amazing to see.

It should still be there. You go to Ranch -> My Ranch -> Manage -> Manage Barns -> Click horse icon to get more stables, goat icon for goat sheds, and cow icon for cow sheds. If you are below lvl 10 and have less than 10 days seniority, you can't have either goats or cows. Hope that helps!
