I think the sword swinging noises are fine in games with 3D animation; a sword swing in those games takes a lot longer than the 2D swings. But spamming the sword button in a 2D game is SO quick that you’re getting far more Yells Per Second (YPS if you will) than in a 3D game where spamming the sword button would get you maybe 3 YPS
@AoiKaze20007 жыл бұрын
Something to keep in mind with the original LoZ - It shipped with a map that showed most the locations of most of the dungeons. In level 5, you could get the whistle, which would take you to the entrance of the different dungeons. Without that map, you absolutely need a guide. And then there's the brute force method of burning every single bush, bombing every single thing, and exploring that way - which had enough stuff hidden underneath things that you could potentially stumble upon one of these secrets, which would lead you to explore others. Granted, I'm not saying that it was perfect, but that also was part of what made it as unique a play experience as it was.
@Somescrub9 жыл бұрын
I can see why people wouldn't like the voice clips. In Oot, you generally don't fight too many enemies that take a lot of swings and you don't meet enemies as frequently it seems. In LttP, the combat seems a bit more fast paced so you'll most likely mash the attack button more and hear the voice more often I guess.
@chaoskiller60845 жыл бұрын
You're goddang right. It's because button mashing to attack. In OoT, 90% of the time you can run past all the enemies. Also, enemies have more variety in how you kill them, meaning you don't hear the annoying voice clips as much.
@lolidemon31635 жыл бұрын
@@chaoskiller6084 more variety? In oot, the main weapons that can kill enemies (outside of ur sword) is really only bombs/bombchu, arrows, and megaton hammer, (granted theres certain enemies that dies to say the hookshot/boomerang/deku nuts/slingshot but those are far and few between). If i am not mistaken u don't hear the voice clips with the arrows and hammer and i wanna say slingshot but u do with the bombs wen throwing. Not much variety there in how to kill enemies. Whereas in lttp, u not only have arrows, bombs, and hammer to attk enemies u have the fire/ice rod to attk enemies, the medallions. Only weapon that doesn't kill enemies in lttp where it kills certain enemies in oot is the boomerang (there might be one or 2 enemies such as keese that dies with the boomerang but i honestly don't use it enough to know). And if ur skilled enough u can even kill some enemies with the cane of somaria so i'd argue theres more variety to kill enemies. Granted once u get the 3rd best sword weapons outside of bombs and the hammer are weaker than the sword so not much reason to use em (though same can be said abt biggoron sword in oot). Now it is possible to get the silver arrows by beating just 3 dungeons in the dark world (dark world is def not linear u can beat the dungeons in any order given u have the weapons/skill/knowledge) which straight up demolishes any non shielded enemy to the point where the sword gets redundant.

This is completely incorrect. The pink hair was a deliberate design decision. The proof is that in the concept art pre the making of the game, Link had pink hair! Do you think they would have just left in a glitch through the entire year or so of development and never thought to change it despite it being a super easy fix that even many amateur romhackers can do? Of course not. I respectfully disagree with your definition of remakes and ports. Metroid Zero Mission in example is a full remake of the first Metroid, and Ocarina of Time 3D is also a remake of the original game even if it focuses on the remade graphics. Although I agree it can be hard to define some games like The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD, "Remaster" seems to be the most accurate term. A remake is when a game is made, again, from the ground up. Zelda 3 on GBA wasn't made from the ground-up, it is a port as the code of the SNES version was re-used for different hardware (and obviously changed to accommodate the transition). It would be monumental waste of resources and times to remake a game so precisely instead of simply porting it. Virtual console games aren't ports, they are emulations. Emulation is when compiled code is decompiled and then recompiled into a different format in real-time.

Actually, I think LttP would have been served with just a little less "streamlining" to make it a more exploration based game. For example, here's a really subtle change they could have made: take the numbers off of the dark world dungeons. After the Palace of Darkness, you can immediately access the Swamp Palace, Skull Woods and Thieves' Town. Do Thieves' Town first, you can at least walk into all of the remaining dungeons. MY preferred order is 1-4-3-6-2-5-7, at least on the SNES version.

There's no such thing as " _too open ended_ " - There's only people who get overwhelmed when they are presented with choices. 19:35 - Or... Perhaps you're not.. good? Could that be it? Seriously, I just hear " _This is bad because I can't do this_ ". 21:20 - Yes, that was how it was back then. Duh. 22:50 - You... Misinterpreted that completely. The Triforce transforms him into Ganon because that's what the evil in his heart reflects. He didn't desire to become Ganon, only powerful. 23:43 - STOP STOP STOP. It's not Silver Arrows from the first game. It's just - SILVER ARROWS - , Silver being well-known in stories and myths and the likes for having magical powers such as killing Werewolves and other things. 24:04 - If you love this, I highly recommend you to play BS Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets. The greatest Zelda game never re-released on Super Nintendo that was only playable on Broadcast satellite in Japan - but it got a translation patch and rom of course. That's one of my top 10 favorite final boss to endings of all time. In the Timeline, BS Zelda Ancient Stone Tablets takes place at the same time of Link's Awakening, since Link is away from Hyrule at that time and thus a new hero must be called.

I don't think people forgot about the GBA version, but most people probably like the SNES version more because the GBA version is more zoomed in to make up for the small screen and it's too bright due to the GBA not having a light, so it throws the atmosphere of the game off in my opinion.

I am currently playing the SNES version on the SNES Classic/Mini. Tell me about the heavy damage input from even small enemies. It's annoying when even one hit can take up to two or three hearts. The Minish Cap, which was my first Zelda experience, was much easier in comparison. Throughout the Minish Cap from start to finish I got only 4 Game Overs that I can easily remember. One of those was from not getting to Princess Zelda, who was turned to stone, on time after Vaati drained all her life force. Minish Cap is nice and smooth compared to ALTTP. In ALTTP, on the other hand, I got so many deaths and game overs, I can't even count them. Seeing that others like you face the same issue in this game, I feel this is normal for ALTTP. It's a big shame that the developers did not try to improve the damage input in the GBA version. To add to ExoParadgim Gamer's words, another difference that I noticed between the SNES and GBA versions, is that the word, "fairy", in the SNES version is spelled as "Fairie", as if it were some Celtic name. The GBA version, on the other hand, spells the word, "fairy", correctly. I also noticed that Link's shield in the SNES version is blue, while the shield is red in the GBA version. I do have a functioning GBA SP, but why get ALTTP for the GBA, when I already have one pre-loaded on the SNES Classic?

Instead of "The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword", it was "The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild" that actually made me nearly lose faith in the Zelda series because of the direction that it went despite the game have really good scores (How is that even possible, BTW?). For one reason, the game focuses so much on the story and exploration in open areas that it had less to do with the puzzle-solving, dungeon-exploring, and enemy-slashing that the series has always been known for since the days of the NES; And also, Link doesn't even wear his iconic green duds at all in the game, which I'm surprised didn't upset die-hard fans just like Dante's new hairstyle in the latest game of the Devil May Cry series.
@seymoronion83714 жыл бұрын
There are 120+ shrines, most of which require you to solve puzzles. I agree it's not the same as dungeons in previous games, but it's something. There are plenty of monsters to fight in BOTW. If that's not enough for you, there's always the Hyrule Warriors games. If you complete all of the non-dlc shrines you get the Tunic, Cap and Trousers of the Wild; ie his iconic green duds. You can also get wearable alternate versions of the green duds from some of the Amiibo, as soon as you complete at least one shrine on the Great Plateau.

You might want to give BOTW another chance, as the sequel *sounds like it will be more up your alley... Advantages would be familiarizing yourself with the word map, Runes, and battle mechanics, before the next one comes out. *According to various websites, it will be more linear and feature full fledged dungeons.

I think I can understand how some people feel about the voices in this game, because that's how I feel about the GBA ports of the Mario Bros games. But in the case of Link I don't mind it as much because I think his voice fits him very well, not only in appearance but in character. Link's character has remained pretty much a constant all throughout his existence. He's an adventurous kid/young adult, and he sounds and acts like an adventurous kid/young adult. Mario in the other hand, is an adult, chubby Italian plumber, with a mustache. And those are not the characteristics of someone that I ever pictured doing acrobatics and going "Yahoo!" This is a new development that started with Mario 64, and makes the character appear more childish than it was. So when I play older games with these changes, they feel different. Maybe not ruined, but weird. =S

Uncles leaves the house to rescue Zelda, but Link wakes up and leaves the house, walking to castle, there is a solider blocking his way, but Link found a way to get in there, he picked a piece of grass and fell into a hole into a place where his uncle is, the uncle gave Link his sword and shield and Link is taking off to rescue Zelda. 6:51 Yeah, too spooky. 8:06 Yeah, they tried so hard to make have the same instrumental as the SNES version. 8:18 The Magic Mirror noise in the GBA version sounds pretty horrible. 8:36 Even, SomeCallmeJohnny complains about that. 13:42 How did you do that? 17:04 I also have a tough time as well, but at the very beginning of the game. 22:22 I already know the ending. 23:41 When I first watched the ending, I cried when Jaker Boss's Let's Play ended. You never needed the can of somalia to finish that dungeon. I thought it was weird so checked my original snes cartridge version. I already finished that dungeon but don't have the cain in my inventory. So... There is another solution to that puzzle i guess. Plus... I don't respect your opinion on the GB and GBC games. Mainly because you just bashed them without argument. The linked gameplay on the GBC games is amazing and I think link's awakening is one of the best Zelda games overall. Why? Because it was the first one to change the setting and characters besides link and the gameplay is still solid for a GB title. I grew up with a gameboy and zelda on the gameboy was FAR ahead of any other gameboy title of the time (except maybe for pokemon but that came later on).

@archvile93884 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do it without the cane, but it's a massive pain. There's a a push block in the room above that can be pushed into a hole which you can then jump down, and from there you can push the block onto the switch. However, block you need to push is blocked by those orange peg barriers, so you need to flip the switch that lowers them, which in the process raises the blue ones that block off the half of the room with the block you need to push. You get around this by coming into the room from the other side (there's an entrance for each side of the room) which requires you to circle around nearly the entire dungeon to reach. Since You don't even need to enter the ice palace and get the dungeon item (it's the blue armor) to complete misery mire, it's much less of a hassle to just head straight for misery mire after thieves town and come back with the cane. Also I completely agree about Link's Awakening and the Oracle games. Those were great. I only played the Oracle games when they released on the virtual console, but I must of completed Link's Awakening 20 as a kid.

I've been practicing to speed-run LttP, which means I've been through it several dozen times recently. While I love the game, I've developed a few complaint that I didn't have when I was going through this game originally: 1) We're told on a number of occasions that changes in one world will have an effect on the other world. However, this mechanic only comes into play once: To enter the swamp palace in the dark world, you first need to drain the swamp in the light world. This mechanic feels wasted and could have been leveraged in several other places in the game but wasn't. 2) Some items are almost completely worthless. The blue cane, for example. There isn't a single puzzle in the game which is easier with the blue cane, or is only possible with the blue cane. In the remake, the same goes for the shovel. Catching a Bee in a bottle is almost worthless. The boomerang never becomes useful enough for its place at the very beginning of your inventory, and the bow is very hard to aim and make good use of for a casual player which, combined with the relatively tight limit on arrows, means few players ever leverage it enough. Not to mention the book of Mudora, which is almost completely worthless. 3) Several mechanics are once-and-done. Creating platforms in Turtle Rock with the Red Cane, for example, or using the hammer to overturn enemies in the Dark Palace. Most secrets can be found just by using the mirror and bombs, and most dungeons can be cleared without really leveraging any items except the sword and bombs. 4) Very few of the dungeons are set up to make good use of the dungeon item. In Ocarina of time, when you get the bombs you have to immediately use them to solve several bomb-related puzzles, etc. Every dungeon in OoT had the same formula: Use existing skills to get the dungeon item, then use that item to solve new puzzles in the dungeon where you found it. In LttP, this formula isn't quite so refined. You rarely need to make good use of the dungeon item in order to clear the dungeon it's found in, and dungeon items are only required for the dungeon boss in a handful of cases. 5) It's very possible to get yourself into a bad situation. It's very possible to get all the way to the boss of Turtle Rock without the ice rod, or get to the boss of the Ice Palace without enough magic in reserve to beat the boss. Not to mention a few places in Gannon's tower where you can run out of magic/bombs/arrows and be unable to go further. That's a heck of a lot of back-tracking for an honest mistake. OoT and later games would usually do a better job of making sure you are stocked up before a challenging puzzle, and make refills available without having to waste 30 minutes of back-tracking. 6) Neither the fire shield nor the mirror shield really offer compelling defense. The mirror shield in particular fails to block several beams and bolts which makes it quite a disappointing addition to your inventory. These are all small things, and like I said they didn't occur to me when I was playing through the game more casually.
