Hollywood needs to take a lesson from this: silence and stillness is creepy, and sticking a loud audio sting into every scary scene doesn't make the movie better. Being startled is not the same thing as being scared.

@@CASmithHorror the long, lingering shots of hallways and staircases are so simple but so, so effective; the tension is palpable and brutal to sit through. Even when the payoff is relatively small, your nerves are so tightly coiled that a small movement of a toy sitting on a chair is just as effective as a CGI ghostie popping out and screaming. The strategic lack of music is great too. I LOVE this sort of thing and it was done so well here. Thank you for making this!

This is proof that we don't need Hollywood big budget horror to be terrified. It takes a lot to scare me. I have yet to see a movie that makes my blood turn to ice, just like The Exorcist did 36 years ago, when I was 8. This one comes damn near close though, especially the very last scene from inside the house. I wasn't expecting that AT ALL and that sound/voice will be stuck in my head for at least a couple weeks. Freaking AMAZING job! I'm super impressed!

Watch the short film called The Chair. I believe that will horrify you. It most certainly did for me and my girl, and I'm pretty much the same. I love horror films but most don't actually scare me unless I'm really trying to allow them too. Also... the genre of horror is a bit more nuanced than it use to be. It's not always about being scared. For most of us I think we watch them for different reasons, sometimes just for fun, for the camp, and sacred triples 'B's (blood, breasts, & beasts) or as I was saying they can also shock, disgust, disturb, horrify, creep, freak, amuse, and inspire us. A great movie is one that stays with you, gets into your head or under your skin. Watch The Chair on KZbin, I will be very surprised if it doesn't effect you.

Further proof that the more simple a horror concept is, the more effective it can turn out to be. I'm a found-footage junkie and stumbled upon this tonight, and all I have to say is bravo guys! I really wasn't expecting much, but this had more than a few moments that really freaked me out. Thank you for avoiding jump scares and instead focusing on the implications of what could be going on, and what the cause of the haunting is. While I'm still a little unclear on the whys, I loved how you left little bread crumbs throughout without explaining everything explicitly, which just sends the imagination into overdrive. Also that final scene gave me chills, and that damn doll. I've always wanted to make a film in this style myself, and your film just gives me more inspiration and hope that one doesn't need a huge budget to get the job done successfully. 4 out of 5 for me, and one of the years biggest surprises. I can only hope you guys go onto greater success because I'd love to see what else you could come up with, again, this shows so much promise and potential.

I'm a big fan of horror/scary films. I remember when I became a fan, at the age of 4 I remember going to the movies to see Edward scissor hands and Misery. I'll say there has only been a handful of movies that scared, spooked or creeped me out as an adult. The Strangers, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, Dabbe: The Possession and now RORSCHACH. What made this film so creepy and unsettling to me was how subtle everything was. Nothing over the top or forced.

I think some of this films strongest points are its building of tension, and not having too much of overload of things going on. It's more consistent and more realistic, I would say, than a lot of modern horror movies, there are no cheap visual effects and it's really not cheesy either. The use of sound is really powerful too, it's just the small things that can push you over the edge which means the tension was built successfully. I think this is a successful horror film, and if you're reading this comment you should watch it!! I could say so many positive things! Glad I watched.

It had such a real feel to it and by the end for the first time in a long time I felt scared to turn the lights off to go to bed. The final piece of footage! Chills from head to toe and a huge “F that! Get out of there!”. The use of very minimal sound. It was quiet, eeri and ominous. The actors did a fantastic job and the guys realisation that this was beyond scientific explanation and the expressions on their face. Just brilliant! Well executed. Let me tell you something Zoey. At 17 years old I received my draft notice to report for my physical two weeks after my 18th birthday. Since I had already graduated high school at 15 years old I convinced me parents to sign me into the US Navy. In my 34 years of service my family especially my children (I have 7 boys and 1 girl), I have seen many strange things. Living in a prepaid villa overseas with children that are attending a foreign school is not easy. But whenever strange unexplainable events that I and my family refuse to hang around for an explanation, my family and I beat Gone With The Wind in speed leaving that villa! As a child living with military parents, I have always since the Cuban Missile Crisis kept a Go (Bugout) Bag at the ready. Life is way more valuable than school attendance or personal belongings.

Hollywood could learn SO MUCH from this production. Oh, how I wish I had discovered this video and the person who produced and directed it seven years ago (2015) when it was uploaded to YT. I just can't believe that I hadn't noticed it or C. A. Smith before. It is VERY top-notch production quality. Acting - A-1 from ALL actors, Including the child actor; Direction - Top Quality and timing cues are absolutely spot-on; Production - Putting the music and video and mood together with the story elements are absolute perfection; Videography - What was seen was visible right when it was at its most effective to be visible at all times and went perfectly with music cues.; Music mixing & effectiveness - The music is absolute perfection and definitely kept me on the edge of my seat just as key moments were imminent. The entire production is of movie quality and I would definitely pay to see many more stories like this any day of the week especially compared to the cookie-cutter drivel that Hollyweird oozes out every week that isn't worth 10¢. If this truly is the trend of KZbin and other streaming services then Hollywood will soon see their own demise and production workers for Hollywood will come to people like CA. Smith begging for jobs. They will want to be in on the good stuff that is being produced and released on YT and other streaming services. I already am subscribed to YT Premium and will continue to do so as long as I can get extremely good content such as this. It is truly chilling and entertaining Content. I will never cease to be amazed by it. Hollywood just doesn't understand that this is the kind of quality content that we viewers have been begging for after years and years of cookie-cutter comic book superhero nonsense that isn't entertaining, seeks "diversity" instead of good stories, originality, TRUE HEROES, production quality, good direction, continuation of the story not just because they want more money from sequels; sequels of sequels; remakes; remakes of remakes; reboots; reboots of reboots; remakes of reboots; reboots of remakes of sequels; reboots of remakes of remakes of reboots of remakes; sequels of rebookes of semakes of remaquels of.......relake.....of.......OMG......where are we really headed? It sure isn't a good place we're headed, that's for sure. And Comic book movies are the ABSOLUTE WORST at this. You know how many Comic book sequel remake reboots there were at the time I was writing this convoluted mess? 24. That is pure and unadulterated horrible writing on the part of the comic book industry. It's beyond anything that should have ever been. I'm so sick of comic book movies that I just want to absolutely hurl in my keyboard. But then, I'd have to buy another keyboard and these cookie-cutter movies just aren't worth a new keyboard. Not even a cheapo China made one that doesn't even light up or anything. So originality and good story telling with original characters from the minds of the best in the business are what we viewers truly want. And I don't care if they're purple skinned with three eyes and a handicap where five of their legs don't work right and they have Garzbot Flendork Disease of the Zorch. Just as long as they can write an excellent story as the same quality as any of the best writers. Just give us something excellent and original. That's all we want. Is that too much to ask? Writers of major Hollywood screenplays and original content absolutely need to put their all into what they write. It is very apparent that they dont. Box office dud after boc office dud tells us that. It is all full of "The Message" of things that just don't make a story an EXCELLENT STORY. When I WRITE stories (And yes, I am a writer) I put my all into it and many say it's pretty good and really enjoy it. The reader gets rewarded with some good escape time into a good story and I get rewarded knowing I gave my readers a grand time in a world they've never been to or seen before. That's rewarding and that makes for an incentive to write a lot more. So that's what I do. Then the readers get to go on another adventure of love or exploring new lands or being in a place unlike anything they've ever seen before. It's a win-win situation. That's an excellent trade-off. So just keep on reading, my dear reader. No matter what author you're reading, you'll find more than you could ever wish for. That's a promise. I just want to give you some of me that I let out and about when I write. That's what writing is all about. It's a beauty that only time tells. Hollywood can and will learn so much from that or they will fail miserably.

I am a horror/thriller movie freaky fan girl, but lately I have found most Hollywood productions are not very original in their plots. Although I admit that this movies overall plot was not extremely original, the fact that it was not overdone and leaving the viewer believing the events to be probable and not completely unrealistic it gives this film the tension filled atmosphere a good thriller needs. This one did though and the fact that it's left unanswered worked really well. *Spoilers* Only complaint I'd have is that you can see the doll turning its head coming a mile away. Might've been better if the character doesn't see the head move and you give the audience just a fleeting glimpse of it. All in all though a great movie to find on KZbin. I'm going to see what your other stuff is like.

Sure, but with the doll head NOT turning might have even been disappointing and a bit confusing. It's like the doll head was a wink a a nod from the entity letting them know, yeah, you know my head's gonna turn, but what I do next is gonna be the unpredictable move. Are you sure you're ready for that? What's next, suckers? Just check and see what you think you will see. My screech will send you running for the hills when you think that in this scene a head turn is all you'll get, but a scene later will scare the begeesus out of you and have you running for the hills. The head turn is predictable and is NOTHING. Then I'll chase them all the way to their new house where the saga continues. You ain't NEVER getting rid of me! So, you see, the doll head turn in that particular scene is just a part of what is to come and is predicted. It actually makes it more scary since it is predictable. You get what all I mean here? 🤔☠️

This is a highly underrated film that proves the abilities of low-budget filming when the actors are allowed to organically perform within the parameters of the theme and setting without seeming false and base.

My heart broke when they wrote that she said she thinks it is starting again and and this is after they relocated... Evil that moves through all things and doesn't terrify a location but a family... I have had some brushes with a ghost at my Uncle's Farm house in upstate NY, and a brush of some entity in LA but nothing so wrong and inverted as what is displayed here.... Great work!

@@looking4therealrepairmanjack Awww, very kind since I can't sleep right now... But know I was just talking about it as a convincing and well done mockumentary....I had minor encounters with supernatural activity but the fictional realistic way it was presented made me get into it...

This film is incredibly well done. If I didn't know itbefore hand I never would have been able to tell that this wasn't a regular high budget movie. It comes arossed just like any of the other/newer shakky cam/found footage films that are out there today.(budget & quility wise not plot & acting ability) The acting & plot line for this movie are very well done & exiquited. Triple thumbs up to the writer & director & the actors/actresses & crew. It won't suprise me to see work by this KZbinr on the big screen one day.

I agree. M.Night Shyamalan Caliber, but better. Sixth Sense times ten. Seriously. This crew's gonna be big time and go farther, I firmly believe.

I just watched this again for the third time and I swear it scared me just as much as it did the first time I saw it..... I found I kept asking myself is the REAL FOOTAGE ? Because honestly if you told me this was all really happening I would believe you.... Just a great job guys.... You guys definitely have a future in film... Even the ending when you explained the ooze coming from the light switch seemed like it was real and true.... Just a great movie !
