👍 (50 year anniversary last year) Time keeps on ticking... Going through a box of old ticket stubs not long ago. I was blessed. My first rock concert: May 19, 1973 (lol yeah, I'm old, but still above the dirt...) East Tennessee State University Rory Gallagher ZZ Top $4 It was about two months before Tres Hombres came out. (Dusty Hill's 24th birthday, I came to find out on his passing) It was Festival Seating and I managed to get about 15 feet from mic center. Rory Gallagher was pure fire right out of the gate, and his band was phenomenal. (particularly Lou Martin on his electric piano) Rory was amazing to see play and I think that he had as much fun as anyone. Then, Billy Gibbons and the boys came out. Back when they were the most badass blues rock band that ever was. Straw hats, jeans, no beards (but Frank. lol), and BG in a white tshirt w/ pack of Marlboros rolled up in the sleeve(lol). Needless to say, Rory and Billy made a big impression on a 16 yr old. Blues rock, slide guitar nut ever since. RIP Rory, Rod, Lou, & Dusty. Thank You! Keep Rockin' Billy, Frank, & Gerry

Wow. More footage from Rory and his band. Amazing. Every time I listen to Lou Martin it makes think he's just like Jerry Lee Lewis in the style. He's got a great rocky feel. Noone plays as brilliantly I suppose. And lovely to hear Rory at least a bit. The interview should have been longer and with more time for Rory
@seesaw19693 жыл бұрын
in a 85 interview Rory answered a question about Lou Martin , in terms of style and influence. he said that Lou could play as Ottis Rush with a hand and as J L Lewis in the other , simultaneusly, and it were great because noone did it like he....

Barry Richards had a similarity to Charles Manson :-))) - a little bit...only his look! :-))) Barry Richards asked Peter Frampton (as Humble Pie was there): "What are you playing Pete ??" (Peter Frampton hold his Les Paul ....) - Barry recognized!!!---> and said "Bring a deduction on my side".... :-))))) Rory: Can't get enough from your music! The older i get, the more i wanna hear this stuff!

Wow, love that throwback interviewer...that is one sleazy 70s dude. Points lost for 1) trying to get Rory to say something shitty about Jerry Lee Lewis, and 2) referring to what Rory does as his "act". Of course l remember that being the parlance of the day...certainly when talking about certain people. I have no problem with someone referring to a Bowie performance as an 'act', and l doubt he would have either. To call what Rory was doing an 'act' is kind of offensive. I would not expect this coked out wanna-be interviewer to know the difference.
@michaeldonaghey5 ай бұрын
He had no chance of getting Rory to say anything derogatory about Jerry Lee. As far as Rory's "act" I doubt he would take offence but I totally agree with you.
