Rory, We're headed to Ireland for the first time this week. You are in our plans for a visit. See you soon.

Rory Gallagher. The best. Making that 61 Strat talk, sing, scream, holler. Rory turned down the Stones request to join them. Why would he? He's the best and had the best band. Masterpiece of a man, guitarist, vocalist, songwriter. RIP Rory Gallagher. I keep hearing you calling. Thanks Ireland. Big thanks to Jerry McAvoy, Rory's bass player for over 20 year.

Not as good as Alvin Lee/ Ten Years After
@1blastman7 ай бұрын
You will get disputes, like the Alvin Lee fan, [who was great], Gallagher belongs in any dicussion about that. Rory stayed emotionally connected to his music all the way to his death. Others did not. Some, like Jeff Beck went on tremendous cerebral journeys with their music and it was marvelous. But Rory was extraspecial. Sorry I never saw him live. Here he embodies Angus Young, Chuck Berry, Peter Townsend, Hendrix and all of rock.

Understand! Saw him and his band in Bremen about the same time. Was there with a friend, a professionell guitarist. After a couple of songs he said, he had to go. I wondered how that was possible and he explained me, he had seen and heard so many things he could not understand, he had to go to the rehearsal room to try to find out, what Rory had done with his instrument. Lucky me am no guitarist - stayed until the end, impressed as never.

Rory Gallagher opened up, if Deep Purple wasn't there Fleetwood probably would have played to an near empty arena. Rory and band were incredible. In his field he's the greatest rocker, no ones since has comes close. A true innovator.

I saw that same tour in '74 (Long Beach CA). I don't remember Fleetwood Mac being on the bill. (Obviously, didn't make much of an impression.) As for Deep Purple, Rory blew them off the stage.
