He was still an active player stepping up to help the club after we'd lost all our top names after our euro campaign.. The Middlesbrough debate isn't really a fair reflection.. Graham Potter stunk out Chelsea but was amazing at Brighton we can't tarr him with the Chelsea brush till the end of time.. Really what southgate is good at man United need.. Let in way to many goals and players hate going into work and they're promising talent is the young crop coming through which he's on record great with younger players again united fans don't want to hear it because they know best but really every signing that's flopped they advocated for them and hyped it up and every manager mourinho van gaal followed suit

Nobody in the media is even mentioning Ten Hag only has one year remaining on his contract. Why pay two coaching staffs concurrently for a year when United can simply elect not to rehire Ten Hag and his coaching staff this time next year? Lost in the media’s desire to force Ten Hag out of his job is this very simple reality. INEOS should team up with Ten Hag this summer, get the deadwood out, and bring in the players they actually want. And if next year doesn’t go well, move on.

I don't think what Rory says here holds any weight. We all know that Gareth's being linked with the job because he has the international experience behind him now. He's proved at that level that he's a very competent manager. By far our most successful manager since 1966. Gareth's a people person, and that's where his real qualities come to the table. If he can get in at United, and breed that 'feel good' factor (that's he so well known for), then we will start seeing the return of form from the top players. Gareth will gel that group and get them playing. United fans, this is what we need. Trust Ineos and trust that they know the man who will take us to the next level. I'm not convinced Gareth will be a long term manager, but the success he can get in the next two seasons could be vital to United. Gareth's a project manager. He comes in with his team, assesses the damage, and then works on gelling the group. So this would be a two season project (that would be my offer), with an option of extension (results/progress permitting).

Southgate won nothing was failure at club level. Got a good Middlesbrough team on paper relegated from EPL back in the day. Had great chance winning the euros with England on home turf a lot of the games still bottled it. Man United stay well clear of Southgate he is Championship level at best.
