It didn't. Rory's life took her away from Star's Hollow. Literally from the start of the show. Lane's plot did what everyone else in Star's Hollow's did. Their lives continued... in the town they live. Lane got married and had children and stayed in the town. That's not a plummet. It's just life.

One of these days we will have to give Logan some credit for growing up so fast in the commitment world. From being a playboy to sleeping alone in London and still be excited to hear from his girlfriend at 4 am. ❤️❤️❤️ All we ever did is to criticise him that he cheated while taking a break which in my mind was excused mainly because most playboys they don’t easily commit like that and remove all of their low hanging fruit immediately. Overall he respected Rory enough not to entertain girls anymore and did so when he thought they had broken up in his mind.
