I think this win is gonna end up being a springboard for him. He has struggled in final rounds in big tournaments and for him to struggle the from nine and totally turn it around with some absolutely clutch shots is exactly what he needed. Was sat in the 18th grandstand watching the last 10 or so groups play 18. It was such a difficult hole in those conditions, 30th wind gusts directly into the players faces, saw so many 5’s or 6’s on that hole as players 2nd shorts landed short or to the side of the green , so for Rory to hit that 2nd shot under that pressure was mind blowing, one of the best shots I’ve ever seen.

@@kevinwhelehan421 when even Rory himself is laughing in disbelief it really puts into perspective how incredible that shot is.. looked like 30mph howling wind straight into the face which magnifies any tiny mistake exponentially, not to mention it's over 200 yds out and has to make birdie to win, par was an incredible score on that hole today, several of the top 10 finishers double bogeyed it.. I've been around the game for 30+ years and watched it all my life and that is definitely top 10 alltime for me

It rivals that fairway wood he hit in the semi darkness on the par 5 17th about 10 years ago, when he pipped Mickelson to the post (I think it was the US Open - may have been the PGA). It would've made Seve proud!

Wow. The second shot on 18 was superb. The hole was 444 yards and he had 202 yards left, which means his driver tee shot only went about 242 yards. That shows how strong the wind was
