At one point, Freddie was singing the words on a Chinese Takeout Menu for the lyrics of the song, just having fun. That is why the song ends with "gimme, gimme, gimme fried chicken""

Such fun! Never get tired of seeing them interact. One of the best thinngs I like about Queen is their sense of humor. It's in their songs and you can see it in their performances. They like to have fun with their music and with their audience.

Have you heard of Peter Freestone? Freddie borrowed him from a UK Ballet Company wardrobe to do Queen's wardrobe...then he became Freddie's Personal Assistant until 3 months after Freddie died. KZbin offers interviews by Peter Freestone. They're brilliant!

These are The Days of Our Lives Documentary is the best. Roger and Brian do the most talking in lieu of some stranger talking during the documentary. It’s long so you will need to break into 2 or 3 parts. It’s my favorite. Brian really talks about their musical philosophy. There’s another shorter documentary on this subject getting them to sing the entire song One Vision. This was the extended one. You had said the song sounded familiar when you did the Wembley reaction. This song was used in the movie Iron Eagle, if you ever saw that movie.

I agree. I think it's the most complete and most accurate version because they and Queen staff are the ones doing the talking.

There's quite a few on Queen own Channel and we've had a few on TV here in the UK celebrating Queen at 50 last year, though technically it would be a year before, as they started in 1970 and yes I'm old enough too remember this, John didn't join until 71, and the rest is history. Queen Inside Bo Rap and how Fred came up with the song about an hour long, Freddie The Untold Story possibly twenty years ago with Mary Austin who we rarely see or hear from, Fred's mum and sister and others who knew him, I think that's a couple of hours, Channel 5 had something this year, The History Of Queen, I think that's the title in two parts, Days Of Our Lives not the song but documentary, you can also find Brian and Roger on the Montreal Concerts narrating, they didn't enjoy those two concerts, security didn't want the fans moving around, and Fred changed his clothes so the two couldn't be edited together, they've always been a very inclusive group, also the two of them talking through some of the music videos There is also something I think on Brian KZbin Channel where he's talking through his career and how he and his dad built The Red Special from items around the family home in around 1963 you'll be surprised what it's actually made from

The days of our lives doc is considered the best by most fans. I highly recommend the news of world doc as a music journalist follows them on the US leg of the tour. Lots of fun stuff, even a little spat that got recorded. I think there is one that’s just under an hour. This one is really fun too. I love how they seem to have their own language.

Nice reaction! There is a slightly longer version of this documentary. Another great documentary is The Making Of a Night At The Opera or Inside The Rhapsody. Brian could be difficult at times, he did not always like input from the others. You can see in this video after Freddie and Roger spoke to Brian about his guitar playing. He storms off and slams the door against the wall. Roger often showed great patience in this regard, Freddie sometimes changed his songs when he wasn't in the studio and he always took it in his stride afterwards.
@bluebell3720
@bluebell3720 Жыл бұрын
Behind his back sounds sly. The only one he changed was kind of magic. He didnt interfere, he respected how Roger wanted it on the film soundtrack When Roger was on holiday Freddie was confident it could be a hit so rearranged it, added guitar and solo and bass It was down to Roger to accept it or not he liked it so that was the single / album version No 3 uk Roger gives him credit for being a hit In this video John says Freddie asked them to come in to write a song together
@bluebell3720
@bluebell3720 Жыл бұрын
I agree about Brian you can tell he wasn't keen making a song together. under pressure he said he stepped away from it. he found it difficult Freddie said in an interview that Brian didn't like him helping him with songs he liked to work alone. but John and Roger were fine with him helping. I don't think he got involved like he did here just tweaking more than re working.

This was fun! I had seen it before but loved your reaction to it! I love seeing the band at work - so interesting! Rory, I think you would enjoy "Inside the Rhapsody" - a documentary by Brian May and Roger Taylor about the making of Bohemian Rhapsody and the video that went along with it. Brian May does a great job of breaking down the entire song and explains how the band made each part of it. It's on youtube in either a long version or separated into 3 mini-documentaries.

Rory I understand exactly what you are saying about a person has to know something about music to really appreciate this video. We just watched greatest, I love their behind the scene interaction it is amazing and hilarious. I was in band and chorus in school for 4 years, I played the piano and violin, the clarinet and flute, I understand want they are doing and I can hear it. I lovs seeing them having fun and being theirselves. I agree with Freddie when he made a comment about making a specific image in his videos because it ruins peoples fantasies, that everyone should be allow to have their own images and I agree with him. Bad Company's song How About That I don't like their video listen to the lyrics there beautiful and Level 42's song Something About You is a beautifully written song I love this song but the video doesn't match. Something About You and How About That are very dear to me, first time hearing their lyrics I imaged something completely different. There is a another documentary about the making of One Vision titled Queen - The Making Of "One Vision" (High Quality) it is 9:47 minutes long.

I love this video. It's good insight into how they work. This video blew my mind when I first saw it. I went to school to be a recording engineer in the 80's and I remember how much studio time cost. It's nuts to me that they wrote their songs together in the recording studio given the cost of studio time. Most bands would write their songs outside of the studio and polish it before they paid for studio time to record so they could save money. Queen used to do that too in the beginning when they were broke and had no money. By this time in their career, it's clear that there is no concern about money for recording time. Clearly, they preferred to work on their songs together in the studio. It's great that they could afford to do that as I'm sure it helped to have everyone's input to move the song along but as the cheapskate I am, it seems nuts to me to pay for studio time for song composition. Maybe they had some kind of a deal? Great reaction , Rory, thanks! I recommend the Days of Our Lives documentary for the most accurate info about the band. It has 3 or 4 parts so you'd need to split it up but it is the best, in my opinion.

this isn't how they normally work, having this much input. as John said Freddie wanted to write a song together but Roger turned up with a completed song! Freddie basically dismantled it and started again! but they kept the theme of it! longer version Freddies in the booth and Brian doing his guitar before Freddie, Roger and John are together complaining about Brian guitar! saying he's just keeping rhythm, Freddie says oh there'll be a row about that later! I get the impression they tell things to Freddie then push him forward to tell Brian!

I think it was Neil Young who said he preffered the original take on his albums because it captured the songs intention and that additional takes would destroy the integrity of the music. He reduced the number of rehearsels to only what was necessary. Maybe that’s what is happening here. It’s interesting to think about. I think overproducing a song or album can ruin it. On the other hand capturing that moment, that essence of what that song is trying to be, now that could be special.

this is off kind of magic. this is the only song off the album they all worked on. John said Freddie rang them to do a song together, only turned up with a completed song! John and Freddie did two songs together the rest they did individually for Highlander sound track The Works, their previous album did well No 2 Uk Ga Ga no 2 Brake free No 3 hard life No 3 hammer to fall no 13 (Freddies love kills no 10) they had just finished a world tour May 85 Jan performed to 250 000 people both nights in Rio
