If I was Tanjiro, I woulda done a mixed outfit between Rengoku & Giyuu, so I can express my favoritism for both of them, and show each of them the respect they deserve for what they've done for me & my sister. After all, Giyuu put his life on the line for Tanjiro & Nezuko, and Rengoku ends up dying while fighting against Akaza, while, technically, protecting both the Kamado siblings + Zenitsu/Inosuke. Both of them are on equal level in terms of deserved respect, seen as how they both have done a lot for the Kamado siblings. I didnt say anything about Nezuko bc its canon that Kanroji is her favorite. (And Mitsuri deserves it as well.)

To be fair, just because Tomioka saved the Kamado siblings' lives does not mean that he HAS to be their favorite. They are free to have their own preferences. Dressing up as Rengoku and Mitsuri most certainly does not imply that Tanjiro and Nezuko are not grateful to Giyuu for having saved their lives. It just means that they had a greater impact on their lives than Giyuu did. The flame hashira greatly influenced Tanjiro through his contagious smile, warm, honest, and selfless nature, unwavering determination to eradicate all demons, and unique ideals to set one's heart ablaze which he stood for firmly. His death left Tanjiro devastated and all the more motivated to train harder and defeat Muzan and his uppermoons in order to avenge the flame hashira and all the others who died at their hands. Nezuko taking a liking to Mitsuri is very self-explanatory if you have seen season 3 of demon slayer or read the manga.

I get it, giyuu put his life on the line for tanjiro and nezuko, but that doesn't mean their favourite isn't giyuu, there's a thing called appreciating. Giyuu was not the fav but still they appreciated him. And his favourite would be kyojuro because he wanted to protect not only the kamado siblings but his friends and the passengers in the train. Kyojuro kept his promise to keep everyone safe in the train. the ppl who were saying that tanjiro did not even cry when his family died, bro. he was fuckin angry. angry, sad, shocked and worry he felt all of that in the same time.. he did not have that much time to cry because he had to take one of his warm family members so he can heal them. And believe me when tanjiro found the killer of his family he was more angrier at that moment more than his anger at akaza. he cares about his family so much, he never wanted to leave the dream of his family.
