Fun fact: hanahaki disease is actually a disease in anime (its not real) it's first aperance was in a shoujo manga and Hanahaki Disease is particularly popular within fandoms due to its potential for angst, hurt/comfort, pining, and general romantic tension. There are two cures for HanaHaki Disease. First, the illness goes away if the other person changes their mind. If they have romantic feelings for the afflicted person, then that person gets better. The second cure is surgery.
