In fact this song is an adaptation from an actual poem from San Juan de la Cruz, a Spanish monk and saint, who composed the poem "Aunque es de noche" more than 400 years ago. He composed this poem while he was incarcerated and speaks about the love he felt for God, even in his darkest hours in prison.

Even in your darkest hours, there is a light from god. It´s a poem from an imprisoned monk (saint) many centuries ago. Pretty complex and beautifull lyrics. GReat reaction man, Saludos from Spain

The original poem is from 1577. It's a song praising God, even though the author , St John of the Cross, was in prison, undergoing a terrible "night".

Love when when you say that she loves the flamenco hands movement. In Spain one of the most known traditional music is flamenco or sevillanas, in her case is flamenco. From the strong history of Spain with Central and South America is natural that might sound similar but they are totally different things from independent and different countries.
