Comp un G = she wishes the best to a former partner and tells them not to worry about her, she's doing just fine Abcdfg = cute interlude La Combi Versace = a Combi is an old, kinda trashy van and there's the contrast with Versace. Tokischa and Rosalía are going out that night, with a combiversace style Sakura = Rosalía reflects on time, love, fame and beauty. She compares this to a cherry blossom, which while beautiful doesn't last forever This album, according to Rosalía herself, it's a self portrait. A rollercoaster. Motomami is also an energy. It's a mix of the things and people she loves. Such an experience. I was kinda worried because of the singles but just like she said in Saoko "when the horse enters Troy, you get confident and then it's all in flames". She used those singles to get people to talk about the album and then surprise us with hard ass reggaeton beats, synths, ballads, heartbreak, love, sadness, joy and suffering. A modern masterpiece. I also cried with G3 N15 hehe

Btw, CANDY is a 2014 reggaeton song by the puertorriquean duo Plan B. To me it makes reference to the moment when a happy song makes you think about your ex (in this case, someone who haven't let you go), and you get sad about it. In south America we call this mood: "perreando y llorando" (twerking and crying) to when a reggaeton song makes you sad lol. It could definitely be about her ex C. Tangana, an Spanish musician who have written a lot of songs about her lol.

an album that plays with genres that i don´t like, but disarm them with interesting results. I think she was inspired working with Arca; the second half of Motomami has many elements of that dissarmed music, specially Cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute. Rosalía has an advantage: she professionally studied sing. Best songs for me are three ones: Saoko (declaration of intentios, "mete tijera, cógela y córtala, y ya"): to cut in pieces the music to make her own samples and own sound (don´t know if another artist decided to use reggaeton to make a conceptually album, and make it about essentially surviving hurt). G3 N15: the best song of this album. Emotionally dedicated to her family, specially her nephew. Her ending with the message of her grandmother sublimates this song. A recent song that i have to go deep in order to say more. La Combi Versace: sonically I think that this work the most out of this "mess" (in a good way). The voice of the cantaora surpassing her makes ampliflies this one. Diablo is interesting, is not a sequel for Maldición, but has that vibe of internal convolution. Now not fighting with the jailer lover, but fighting with traitor lover ones, the ones that are now, coincidentally or not, "maldiciendo", cursing Rosalía. I find some conceptual simmiliraties with some albums that I like, Madame X from Madonna and Post by Björk: the multicultural collage from Madame X - overextremed, "arcaized" in Motomami; and the "home letter" from a new, bigger place and status that is Post and also is Motomami.

One of the album's (many) premises is transformation and continuous transformation and experimentation. Saoko serves as a manifesto for this, where she says "I contradict myself, I transform" and "fuck the style, fuck the stylist". Sound-wise and production-wise she tries tons of latin american musical genres such as bachata, bolero, reggaeton and trap, all of them with her own twist and her own style. There's also (I think) tons of inspiration and influence from Arca (they're friends) from the most experimental takes on the album although she didn't participate directly in the making of the album. I think it's most explicit in Hentai and Motomami :)

I recommend you listening through the album with copying the Genius lyrics to Google Translate and figuring them out through that. It adds to the experience. If you do this you have to look for the Catalan language in the lyrics as well because Rosalia comes from Catalonia. If you find some (sentences) you can translate them in another tab in Google translate as well. That's how I did it 😊 Otherwise, there will probably be a translation uploaded for the whole album on Genius itself in the next few days. I also like the album. It's quite different from her other stuff but I think she somewhat achieved a cool Neoperreo album
