Thank you so much Paul! That means a lot to me. I am getting more and more into the art of videography. But, this new hobby does steal away time from getting my hands dirty in the garden. Although I'm almost eager for 2020 to end, I do wish the days were longer. So much to do and so little time.

I know - sometimes I’m working in the garden when I should be filming and then put things off so I can film later. I think you are striking a great balance Rosanne because your garden is sublime and your videos beautifully crafted and inspirational - I know how much work that is.

I am addicted to your channel. I've watched a number of your videos more than once and read every single blog post in your archives! I want to try seed starting in a milk jug this winter. I'm just wondering what other seeds can be started this way as I don't have grow lights to do indoor seed sowing m
@RosannesGarden4 жыл бұрын
@@allenlebo Hi Allen! I'm so pleased you have been inspired by my blog and videos. I love gardening and I really wanted to share our garden with others. It seems like such a waste to have it just to ourselves, and the occasional visitor. The milk jug video was one of my first videos. In hindsight, I probably could have included more information. Not knowing your growing zone, I cannot say with certainty which plants might work best. But...a general rule of thumb is that any plant that is perennial in your growing zone can be "winter sown". In other words, plants that need winter to rest and reproduce. Their seeds, in nature, need to be exposed to cold temperatures for six, or eight weeks or more. It's called cold "stratifcation" For me, that would be Asters, Delphinium, Columbine, Scabiosa, Turtle head plant, Verbena, Rudbeckias, Liatris, Monarda, and more. What won't work, are annual plants such as Impatiens or Zinnias. I have found that the most successful plants are those that are native to your area. This year I am ordering seeds from Prairie Moon Nursery, a Wisconsin company. Thanks for being such an avid follower! I do appreciate it and knowing that what I am doing is having a positive impact. Yours in gardening, Rosanne

I love your garden. I just took possession of a very large property and the garden is a bit of a disaster. I have been working like crazy to get a jump on next spring. I bought a couple of things. One is a winter berry, and it’s just beautiful. I love a winter garden. The other is an espalier apple tree. I love these new additions. I feel like a new mother. All I want to do is stare at them. The garden looked enchantingly beautiful in this tour. You certainly have an eye for where to place things. I was excited to see your spilled wine weigela pruned into tidy shapes ( if indeed I was looking at the correct plant). Mine are youngish plants and they look kind of open. I would like them to fill out and create a fuller, bushier shrub. Do you have any pruning strategies for creating the look yours have?
@RosannesGarden4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jim! I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. As to the spilled wine weigela, I prune them with a hedge shears to get them into the shape I want. I do not worry about cutting at nodes. Normally, we prune almost everything in March - but not these. I prune in July after they are done flowering. If they are getting enough sun, I'm sure they will fill in just fine. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@RosannesGarden4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Every March I prune the Strawberry vanilla hydangea carefully with a hand-pruners and cut above nodes (no hedge shears). I try to get a "flat lollipop" shape. Then, in summer, the branches grow long and the weight of the flowers pull it into even more of a horizontal shape. I'm glad you liked it!

Hello from Russia. What a beautiful garden! My friends say that in many States you can't plant plants that attract bees. Is it true? You have them buzzing happily and it's great 🌹

Greetings to Russia! I'm so glad you liked the video of our garden 🌼. I'm happy to say that what you heard is incorrect. In fact, many big, research-focused universities around the country advocate planting flowers that attract bees because there has been an unfortunate decline in bee populations 🐝. I feel bees are part of gardening. I'm so glad you think so too! All the best!

Rosanne your garden is terrific, just beautiful and evidence of your hard work. Would you like to share what is your zone?

Thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed the fall tour. I am in USDA Zone 4. I'm sorry that my location and zone information was competing with the beautiful butterfly on the opening scene. 😊

I really impressed with your enchanted garden videos! I was wondering how you keep wild animals away from your beloved plants? such as rabbits
@RosannesGarden Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! I’m glad you are enjoying our enchanted garden. We use fencing around certain plants that rabbits find especially delicious to protect them. The fencing is 18 inches high green coated chicken wire in the summer. In the winter because of snow depth, we use 4 foot chicken wire to protect trees and shrubs.

Such a beautiful garden! Do you cut back the sedum in the fall? I've noticed more and more people using it. I loved the stone garden bench. I'm sure no one will ever "borrow" it, haha!

Thank you! We do cut the sedum back in fall, but only after we've had a very hard frost. As to the bench, it's not going anywhere 🙂

I would love to know your secret for getting your Twist and Shout to grow that tall. I have several and they are beautiful, but even after three years, very low to the ground. I think they are probably 2' h by 3' w.

Hi there! I fertilize the plant in early spring with an organic fertilizer (something like 4-6-4) and make sure it gets plenty of water. I was actually concerned they were getting "leggy". Our soil does run alkaline, which should impact the colors Orly, but not the height. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Beautiful! This year I had gorgeous morning glory vines but not a single flower! So now I may know why! I thought maybe the seeds were flawed.
