Jerry you did A great job on the bush hog. You are A Jack of all trades. You seem to have a natural talent for making things work. As always A great video. Ten thumbs up my friend. Thanks for sharing your video.

You did an awesome job, I am working on my lawn tractor trying to install hydraulics. This really inspired me to keep moving forward. Thank for the video!!

Thank you for the video. I found most of it very inspiring and informative. The parts concerning the shafts and shear pins were especially helpful but I wish you woulda shared more about what you learned pertaining to choosing the hydraulic motors.

That was the most interesting build I have seen in a while. I have a brush hog type mower with two heavy flail blades that mount to a very heavy arm that do the cutting. I would love to be able to mount it to my front end loader and run it that way instead of looking back all the time. The loader has been converted to a Skid Steer Quick Attach system already. Thank you for sharing.

I like your honesty very good. I was the last generation to own a farm that had been in the same family for over 100 yrs. the farm was in Nebraska ( go Big Red )

If you ask people and they say you can't do this or you can't do that, well I don't ask that way i don't get told you can't do it. Just do it and if it don't work just do something else. Thumbs up from me on that one! Some folks know what they can't do, and some just get it done.

the pressure relief valve bypassing the overpressurized oil might cause the hydraulic oil to get hotter than usual , might want to keep an eye on that that contraption might actually work on small trees and stumps too as you can lift it up high enough with the bobcat (prolly duck out of the way of the chips that be flying though) another nice thing is that you can see wat youre doing without turning around in youre seat like you would need to do when driving a tractor with the bush hog atached
@RosaStringWorks6 жыл бұрын
We've been using it for quite a long time now. I've cut down 4 inch trees with it quite easily. It works really really good. Thanks for taking a look.
@cleatrampler8 жыл бұрын
Had no idea a Bobcat that size would run a brush cutter very well. Been wanting to build one for some time but have been too lazy and with my lathe broken, did not want to take on the challenge. Only thing I want to do differently is make a floating mount and have casters for mowing. If I had a rigid mount I would put rubber tired casters on the front so I could make turns without digging in. Then again with steel tracks on you don't have to worry as much about getting stuck or digging holes when you make turns.
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
cleatrampler Thanks for watching. We don't really have any problem with it digging in. I suppose if you're on really smooth ground cutting only grass, the casters would work out okay . But out here that wouldn't work at all, too many rocks, brush, and ditches. I will say the thing works even better than I expected. It is awesome my wife just loves it! Thanks again.

Is there anything that you don't build yourself? Great job again, even if you did have to go through a learning process to get there. Everyone that is successful at anything has to go through a learning process and be ready to change plans and improvise as the need arises.

Nice job on your build. I have been using one of these (Only Factory made). It did not have a bypass, when you shut it down in the skid steer the blades came to a sudden stop (first time I used it I liked to have jumped out of the skid steer, LOL) hasn't hurt a thing You idle the engine down before shutting down the hydraulics
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for looking. That's wierd, the factory one we used had a bypass built in. The blades slowed naturally. In addition, the Surplus Center guy definitely recommend one to avoid trouble down the road. They even provide a diagram online. Finally others I have seen on KZbin put one in too. So better to be safe than sorry I guess. I'm no expert but I like the slow down over the stop.
@scottwhite23794 жыл бұрын
I am surprised people dont just use a prince pto pump slid onto where the shaft normally goes. Instant mounting. I plan to build one of these for my tractor. I have a pto hydro unit now that runs a front mount blower. Too easy to convert a hog to hydro. From my research, you can gain some use by cutting the front back a little to expose a few inches of the blades for larger brush

bigfootGeorgia its been a while, sorry don't recall. But it has to be sized to your machine anyway. The best thing is call the Supply Center in Nebraska tell them what you have and they will recommend the parts for your application.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad that I'm not your neighbor! If I WERE your neighbor, I'd probably be self-shamed into trying to keep up with all your work and creativity, which would probably kill me! Also, you'd grow to be annoyed with me because I'd probably be over at your workshop every day or so, begging to use something! On the other hand, I could see my bluegrass skills going up, assuming you'd let me pick with you and your boys! After all, I DID pick with Doc Watson once, back when Merle was still alive. Or maybe I should say that I was utterly embarrassed in my attempts to pick with Doc Watson! Beyond being the best flat-picker alive at the time, he was also a very gracious and nice person.

Ronnie Elliott thank you very much. It is an awesome machine. We use it a lot here on the farm. Unfortunately they are already on the market. The reason I built one, rather than by one, is just because they cost about 4,000 bucks or more.

i like your design been thinkin of making one for my avant( same as a skidsteer) with my brush cutter, is the shaft you used going from pump to the gear box, an old pto shaft?
@iamrichrocker8 жыл бұрын
Jer..fantastic engineering....have you considered a plexiglass screen to deflect debris? didn't seem to be an issue in the short application test though...
@RosaStringWorks8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. We have a windshield for the Bobcat. So far, its not been a problem at all because the mower is well below the driver. In fact, it is MUCH better than when using the same mower on our tractors. Used to get debris hitting me all the time. So far none of that. Now that I've used it a while, I am in love with it. lol. Thanks again!

Put wheels on it and place the arms in float
@RosaStringWorks5 жыл бұрын
We don't use it as a regular brush hog will use it to cut down in ditches and small trees Etc so there's no need to put wheels on it
@ExploringCabinsandMines5 жыл бұрын
@@RosaStringWorks my point is it could just float and follow whatever terrain and not gouge into the ground without adjusting it all the time as skidsteers bounce because of short wheelbase , you could still use it as you have been, just a friendly suggestion. :-)
