No. 6 Ohio State roared into the College Football Playoff semifinals with a 41-21 victory over No. 1 Oregon in the 111th Rose Bowl. Jeremiah Smith caught two of Will Howard’s three long touchdown passes while Ohio State went ahead 34-0 in a sensational first half.
Howard passed for 319 yards, Emeka Egbuka also caught a long TD pass and TreVeyon Henderson made a 66-yard touchdown run in a redemptive Rose Bowl for the Buckeyes, who emphatically blew out the CFP's No. 1 seed.
Ohio State is headed to the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10 to face No. 4 Texas for a berth in the national title game.

Day needs to study Woody Hayes. Woody has a saying that would be very fitting for most occasions. One he could have used after they question, “I know it would be difficult to say a lose against your rival, but losing that game brought you here and brought your game up”. He should have stated, “No I wouldn’t say that, because we despise that team up north. But Woody had a saying, “There’s nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you”!

Class act right there. From a lifelong 64 year Buckeyes fan, Dan is doing a fantastic job and I look forward to this new West Coast rivalry. Ryan is doing a great job too. Maybe now some of the haters will eat some of their words and get behind this team and organization and go positive and not negative.

@@Tee-duckwe just went 13-0 and won the Big10 in our first year. Lanning is an exceptional coach, look at any big name commentator on cfb, most consider him to be the second best coach in the country. Ohio state is very good this year, don’t let that get you down. Expect to see Oregon in the playoffs consistently for the next span of time and give Dan Lanning time to settle into his role and grow as a head coach. 100% chance he learns something from this game, and we do better next time.

as a buckeye fanatic, the ducks didn't deserve having to face the BUCKEYS. i really like the 12 team playoff but this has to be fixed! having said that. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. it doesn't pay to cheat by running a 12 player onto the field after the play starts!!! that was one freakin beat down!!! and if chip didn't call off the dogs in the 2nd half it probably would have been a 60 burger!

I agree as a ducks fan Ohio state is the better team. They won the game that matters most. But what Lanning did was legal at the time and just played chess. But Ryan day, Knowles and Kelly made sure their boys were ready to play and they balled out. Hope Ohio state wins it all

So happy that "Douchey" Dan Lanning finally got his humble pie tonight. Him and his team been chirping all yeah long and especially after they barely beat us in week 6. It's clear, crystally that Ohio State was and is the dominant team of the two. Our self inflicted wounds is what beat us against Oregon in that regular season match up. We cleaned that up and our defense made Dillon Gabriel look like a JV QB tonight

Will Stein is trash. Hasn't called a complete game all year. Didn't even have a plan today. Been saying it all year. Dillion hasn't seen open receivers all year. Great short game guy. Probably cuz he can't see over the OL. We had so much great talent on the WR room. He could only find Tez? Can't wait for Dillion to be gone. Hopefully Stein will get a HC job somewhere so we can move the ball next year.
