ROSE DETECTIVE AGENCY BOOK NOOK KIT build and review.

My first go at a book nook wooden kit. The rose detective agency was my choice as there is lots going on and lots to look at each time, as well hidden objects and an opening door and secret sliding escape. This was definitely a challenge but I very much enjoyed it. It also has lots of lights to really show off the build in all its detail. 322pcs and 2 x AAA needed not supplied. I enjoyed your build video very much. I am in the midst of building my first book nook (Sylvia Garden) and have the Detective Agency kit waiting along with two others my wife purchased. I wasn’t aware until recently how popular these kits are and how many are out there. I am an aviation modeler in 1/48 scale (plastic, resin) so I’m more used to exact scale, detail and realism, though I have done some miniature work in 1/12 scale years ago. I think these book nook kits are a great way for non modelers to build something that looks good, needs no painting, fiddling with sanding and fillers and all the other tasks that go into scale modeling. This form of kit building suspends that and concentrates on the joy of just putting things together without much fuss. The mix of snapping the wood parts together with occasional fabric and other materials assembly makes it interesting to explore how the various items were designed and how the individual items come together to form a part of the whole. An important aspect of the process is the almost exclusive use of a fast drying type of adhesive which reduces the wait time before proceeding with the next step. This enhances the experience and sense of accomplishment in stages and eliminates the type of wait that plastic models need at several stages such as waiting for the glue and paint to dry and cure. I am thrilled that the advent of CNC laser cutting has made of precision kits that have little or no fit issues that necessitate sanding and filling. I believe that many more people who have never considered themselves to have enough patience or ability to construct anything will now take on one of these kits. Not all kits are as time consuming as the Detective Agency. Some are simpler and are good introduction to the hobby. I hope that these kits will usher a new wave of hands-on hobbyists that will fill the void left by the change that PC gaming and other hobbies that were not taken on by young people in particular. Thanks for all your kind words. Yes they are not particularly difficult but a good sense of achievement once completed. It's my first and only one so far but I'll definitely make more. I haven't got the skills of model making that you do. Thanks again. When I make another one I'll let you know. 😁
