Wow, that Evelyn Nesbit story is amazing! What an intriguing connection. And I didn't know about Rose Marie's child star days. Great clip.

"What Can I Say After i Say I'm Sorry" was a popular song written in 1926. There wasn't a hit version, though, until 1940 when it was recorded as an instrumental by Will Bradley & his Orchestra (Columbia 35543). Assorted pop and jazz singers from Frank Sinatra to Ella Fitzgerald have recorded versions of the song but none were hits. Rose Marie herself had one hit with a different song: "Say That You Were Teasing Me" (Victor 22960) in 1932.

How come her voice sounds so different? On Dick Van Dyke she had this loud gravely voice. Now it sound a lot younger. Anyone else notice that?

It was a bit unnerving to hear her use the Polish slur - but I looked it up and it turns out her mother was Polish. Gives her the cred to use it!
