Rose McGowan fired back at Sarah Jeffery for calling her and Holly Marie Combs' criticism of the "Charmed" reboot "pathetic." The actress spoke out days after Sarah's comments about a resurfaced video of Rose telling Holly that the supernatural drama's 2018 revival, which stars Sarah, "sucks." Rose issued a lengthy message on her Instagram story, tagging Sarah and directly addressing the 24-year-old to let her know her opinion isn't personal.

I find it sad society is at a point where you and JustJess feel a need to qualify your opinion with your being black. The OG cast's comments obviously had nothing to do with skin color. They had nothing to do with the new cast being female. I don't twitter so I'm not privy to any of the follow up interactions save what was presented here, but from what I've seen, the OG's criticisms have *nothing* to do with the new cast at all. I myself am tired of sequels, remakes, and reboots. Make the show, make the movie, use the basic premise and formula, use different actors...And give it another name. For example, the new "Magnificent Seven". Good film. Denzell was great in it. But beyond it having 7 main characters, being a western, and having a big battle at the end, it really bore little resemblance to the original. Same with "True Grit". Jeff Bridges was great, but he wasn't Rooster Cogburn. They don't all fail, but most do.

The show could have had promised bit it was done fast, arches was not layed out and half ass connected, killing everybody with no connection to the audience, forcing a white lighter and witch triangle/square relationship that didn't have any build up and chemistry, etc. Also they had ass squeezing in four to five seasons of Charmed in the first season of the reboot..no. The writers and producers suck laying out a story, and everybody was touching the book of shadows the history of their blood line was barely learned at all

The show should just have a different name cause it has nothing to do with the original to be a reboot. Not even some reboots use the exact name of their original shows. "That's So Raven" to "Raven's Home" and "Full House" to "Fuller House" . If you're going to make a remake or reboot, don't use to exact name. Especially when it's a whole different cast. Maybe Charmed Again, Power Of Three,...... or something around that. I think if Aaron Spelling was alive, they would have talked to him about if first and not have used the "Charmed" name. Plus, if you're gonna have a reboot/remake, don't the new cast and crew and creator converse with the originals. Talk what to do, how they gonna go about it. So they wouldn't have the problem that is going on now. Holly and Rose don't have a problem with the girls or the way the show is, they just don't like the fact that it's under the "Charmed" name.

"Raven's Home" is actually a good show. It also respects the original. I don't know whether the new "Charmed" is any good or not, I didn't even know it existed until last night. I also didn't really care for the original and watched very few episodes. I agree with Sarah as far as them being catty, but there was no call or evidence from what I've seen to bring skin color into it. I guess that's just the in thing to do these days.

I ageee with Rose. The new show definitely used the “Charmed” legacy and the huge following to promote their new show. They did not portray any creativity of their own. They used the entire “lore” & “world” that is Charmed (Whitelighters, elders etc.) without acknowledging where it all came from. They should NOT have used the same name. Maybe call it Charmed To Be, or Charmed: A New Destiny. We must give the original Charmed it’s place in history. The new show is not a reboot, it’s more of a spin-off.

it is a reboot, because it is the same plot but the characters are different. that is also the reason why the OGs cannot guest in this show, because it's not a sequel or a spin-off. a spin-off would mean it is connected from the original universe, but no. the new show is in a different universe. the characters of prue, piper, phoebe and paige cannot exist here because there should be only one power of three per universe. the power of three cannot be passed on, there is only one power of three. that's why they made it a reboot so they can create new characters. i am a fan of the OG (i am 37) and i'd rather have a reboot than a spinoff or sequel where piper, phoebe and paige are just background characters to make way for the main new characters. BUT i agree though to comments saying they should've just renamed the show since it's a reboot like added a subtitle (eg Charmed - Legacy lol). i think many OG fans hate the new show because they were expecting the resemblance from the original show, but heck, the new show is trying so hard to sway away from the OG to make their own mark (honestly season 2 feels like they are part of the MCU already!) which I don't get. If they wanted so hard to stay away from the original show then what's the point of rebooting it, other than milking from the glory of the original show. and so there, my friend, is why the show sucks just how rose pointed it out.

Then maybe the spirit board could speak to them through one of the sisters. She could return with the, “A time for everything and to everything it’s place, return what has been moved through time and space.” Or, whenever they need help, they could call on the old power of three, since they have a witchly connection. Here’s the truth, while the race card should not have been played, having harsh criticism on something you haven’t seen stemming from anger that truly needs to be directed at Netflix should not have been a thing. Being an OG doesn’t give you a pass from being checked. And because you are of color and someone doesn’t like what you do, doesn’t mean that it stems from racism. As a performer myself, any work that I do is out of not just a money grab but a grab at being able to do what I love to do and hope that it is successful. There was a way to express their anger at being pushed aside instead of sharing the space on the streaming network. It clearly couldn’t have sucked so bad if their getting a new season. The show is different and caters to a new audience. That is the point of remakes and reboots. Young mama’s shouldn’t have responded either. I’m with McGowan. I’m sorry but the OG had an amazing charm that made it fun for a lot of people regardless of race, gender or social backgrounds. It was just good television that made you forget about real life and allowed you to kick some demon ass every week. The new Charmed it felt cheap. That’s the only way I could accurately describe the feeling after watching it. I watched the whole 1st season. And it didn’t grab me like the OG did. They took a pretty thought out mythology and brutalized it. Were there aspects of the reboot I enjoyed yes but I couldn’t get over the horriffic s/l , bastardized mythology, and SJW BS. They OG collectively had engaging s/l, SJW that wasn’t brow beaten into the audience and a pretty thought out mythology. That’s what disappointing. They made a complete new show and expected to have OG fans and new fans like them ... well look how that’s turned out.

Something doesn’t ring true about Rose’s apology to me. In her original comment, she says that the SHOW sucks (even though she hadn’t seen it). She didn’t mention the creators, the company, or anything like that. She specifically mentions the show.... But In her apology she mentions how this reboot is a money grab profiting off of her hard work (I say her because no one else seems to be bothered by the reboot). While I agree that Rose’s comments weren’t racist (I also agree with her view on reboots in general) it just seems as though Rose is backpedaling, instead of just acknowledging that her original comments were vague and disheartening. She can never acknowledge her own faults or her own actions. She just constantly blames other people (mind you, I am not referring to her sexual abuse and am not victim blaming here), without taking any responsibility for her own actions. She could have simply apologized that her words were vague and therefor could be misinterpreted. Instead it’s a “sorry you felt that way, but your misinterpreting what I had to say.” Just doesn’t seem right in my opinion. After years of dealing with deceptive people, you start to notice their actions as opposed to their empty words.

The OG cast were being immature in the way they handle this , but they weren't wrong to be upset. The new charmed is a slap in the face to the original cast and fans. The new cast do take the criticism too sensitive. If they were fans of the original show they would understand the hated is because of the fact that the only thing they took from the orginial show was the powers, the secret child put up for adoption and the mother dying. The "page" character even admitted in an interview that she never even watched the orginial series. You don't make a reboot and don't give the orginial the respect they derserved.

I personally love the new Charmed. I know a lot of people were disappointed as fans of the original but I literally never watched it until the other day (only the first episode). Of course, I understand why OG fans aren't happy with the new show, but I feel like the OG cast could literally have mentioned beforehand that it's an issue with the producers and stuff that they have a problem with, of course not the current cast. You can't blame Sarah for getting upset, although I do agree that it was a stretch that it had anything to do with race. (But from her personal experience as a black woman, it may feel like that, even if it wasn't intended that way). Spiderman trilogy with Tobey ran across (2002-2007) while Charmed (1998-2006)..of course while you're filming a series for such a looong time it becomes a part of you,... it's only natural..look at Friends and most recently The Big Bang Theory.. you cannot, it's quite hard to separate the cast from the show coz they are the ones who bring it to life.. Therefore,the OG cast were just airing theirs views on the matter and note, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and they were more than justified.....moreover,in a most recent tweet, they've asked for peace... This would probably never end..so let's just wait and see. Am not gonna talk about how you think Shannen is the "morally justified one" coz we all have our favorites and we'll stick to what we believe in no matter what.. All in all... We will never really know what went on to get this situation to this point but oh well.. as long as the Charmed name lives forever.."Forever Charmed"🙌

I love the original charmed as it’s such a classic and by far my favorite. However, I do appreciate the spin they took with the reboot. I have to think of it as a different and unrelated show, the only similarity being the charmed ones and some basics. I respect both casts but Charmed original will always have a special place in my heart.

She was a part of an earlier feud though. There seems to be a lot of tension between the OG cast and the reboot one. I think it’s quite disrespectful the way they rebooted it and the girls from the reboot act quite a bit entitled without realizing the name the original girls gave to that show. Anyway, I understand where Holly, Rose and Alyssa come from, but I’m not for belittling other people, even if the new reboot does suck. I agree with Sarah Jeffries although I don't believe Rose McGowan is racist, I do question if Holly and Rose would have been so vocal about their disdain for the show if the reboot cast resembled the OG cast. I wonder if it would have been easier for them to see Sarah's point of view if her race was similar to theirs, and if they would have thought about it more before they bashed an entire series that empowered a new generation of women. I loved the OG charmed and I would even say I'm totally a super fan, but the charmed reboot is also something that I hold dear because it shows a trio of powerful young women who resemble me, and face the challenges of my present day life (minus the "sweaty demons" lol)

I think Sarah overeacted. I agree with Rose and Holly that it sucks. Again not the people that are playing in it but the story itself, the characters the way they are written. I adored Sarah in ,,Descendents" i like the way she sings, however I do not understand from where she got the idea that Rose and Holly are hitting in women of color. I don’t really appreciate Sarah Jeffrey saying that they were even insinuating anything about their race. Please be original at least instead of just reaching for the closest thing to begin a feud over. They are aloud to have an opinion so I myself agree with what they said compared to the charmed that I grew up around. I hate the fact they screwed all the characters up. Pipers character is all screwed up in the reboot and her and Leo was the glue that held the show together. The reboots best characters are Macy and Harry. They are different and not a replica of another character in previous charmed. They did take Macy and give her Prues power but took Paige out of it completely and added half demon to it. The reboot would have been better if they would have done a charmed series with the kids and grandkids of the original charmed ones. Those characters could have been different races, gender and sexual orientation as well as mixed powers. I also like the phoebe cole story better then the newer one. I agree with Rose McGowan that they are trying to profit off the same stuff twice when you will never be able to replace the original charmed. They done the same with Roswell and other shows.

You are joking right? The Piper and Leo melodrama got beyond annoying after a few seasons. I was so glad Leo was gone in season 8 thinking I'd finally have a break, but alas even when gone they couldn't shut up about him for 5 seconds. Furthermore, it is a reboot, it doesn't have to copy the whole of the original, if it did why even bother watching it when you could just watch the OG? I myself quite enjoy the reboot and the fresh take on it; especially the implementation of mythology, something the OG tried and butchered spectacularly.

I have to agree, I grew up watching Charmed in the 90's and it was great. I was happy when it was announced that there was a reboot. However, watching the first episode didn't have the same spark as the original. I watched a few episodes before I called it quits. There's something missing in the reboot but I can't put my finger on it.

I don’t think there is any need to compare the versions of Charmed. There are some episodes of the old charmed that made me cringe especially when it appeared all the sisters were boy/man crazy! I have seen portrayals in the new version that I think are far fetched also. Do I like the knew approach making one of the sisters a scientist also! Yes of course it’s modern day. Is the old one not feminist, yes it was, feminism changes also so everyone from the old cast should have reserved their negative comments or definitely direct them at the producers and the new cats should respect that a path was paved. I think there were better ways Rose could have said she disliked that a reboot had been done. She left it open and basically appeared to be attack on the new cast current work!

The comment "I honestly had no idea who you were till you tweeted" was a low blow, and if that were really the case then that would mean she hadn't actually watched any of the reboot and, therefore, had no reason to comment in the first place. I loved the OG cast. However I'm not proud of how they acted. They "said the show sucked" yet never watched it. Shows get rebooted every year with new cast members. The show has similarities but its not the same plot. 🤷‍♀️. I think the OG cast should have reacted like Alyssa Milano. She simply said if it does well then it introduces the new generation to what the charmed ones are. If it doesn't do well than that was that.
