Rose is one of my favorite characters ever. I relate to her so hard on so many things. I really don't give a darn what the fandom thinks of her tbh. She's a fantastic, morally grey character and a beautiful example of the pains of redemption and becoming a better person even when you didn't come from a great starting place. She went from a sheltered, spoiled, and honestly emotionally abused character to someone who learned and grew to become a competent and loving leader. She's so complex and HUMAN.

I agree, I love her character so much. Although what happened to her confuses me, I still loved her character since I was younger. I relate to spinel more but rose is just the prettiest and best character to me. 🌹

The SU soundtrack of s1 in general is so nostalgic for me. It was before any of it was officially released and I would listen to it on KZbin. SU was a huge part of my life that inspired me and propelled me forward during some of my most depressed times

...okay look idk why people think rose/pink diamond is a villain (...?) (Why am I gonna rant about this on a music vid?) We only see her redemption arc in reverse...which kinda paints pink as the villain, and puts Steven in a strange position of hating his mother...To me, it's just really, REALLY unsatisfying to see Steven and most of the entire fandom hate pink and just ACCEPT THAT THE OTHER DIAMONDS WERE REDEEMED?! Pink/Rose was literally the only one who stood up for earth (sure, she had flaws) but she doesn't deserve to be disliked so much. Honestly out of all of the diamonds she has got to be the most honorable... 😑

Rose didn't stand up for the earth. Rose stood up for herself, and the earth was caught in the crossfire. Just because she's the best of a bunch of terrible people doesn't make her good.

I just wanted to say something real quick because everyone and their grandma are commenting their opinion on rose/pink: If you hate rose and think that she's the worst person on the show, keep in mind that steven later goes on to commit literally gem homicide, something Rose never even did to our knowledge. I feel like people don't realize that Rose and steven are like almost the same person? They aren't the same, but they end up going through the same issues, when the series starts steven is still a child and he's treated as such, but he's also expected to live up to so much more like it's his purpose to be just like his mother. Steven constantly being left alone and neglected ALL THE TIME by the gems and his dad at the age of 13. Yes, he's given anything he needs but he is just expected to be okay and keep entertained. The only reason steven was so mature and compassionate is that is what the gems preached to him, constantly telling him how his mother was the most caring and thoughtful gem in the galaxy and steven tried to be that all the time, looking up to his mother and feeling like he could never live up to her. Now replace those mysterious gems that care about the earth and humans, with giant tyrannical gems who have control over everyone and everything, who would leave pink alone for extremely long spans of time, force her to cry, would get physically aggressive with her, treated her like lesser than themselves but expected her to be just like them, give her gems as literally toys and servants. That was pink's life, completely ignorant when treating gems like lesser, imagine how many times she watched gems get hurt or poofed for being out of line? Now if steven grew up in a place like that, don't you think he would have been a little bit of an entitled brat too? Later in SUF we find out that pink used to have tantrums that would result in her breaking things and at some point hurting her pearl. We see that later steven is having magical outbursts beyond his control, breaking things and eventually shattering jasper in an attempt to control his pink mode. Is it really that much of a stretch to say that pink was the same way at one point, with her emotions tied to her power and having such extreme emotions that she accidentally hurt someone she cared about? in the series we find out that the reason pink became rose is because when she was just trying to have fun on her new planet, she realized what the gems were really doing to the beautiful natural life she discovered. She tried everything as pink diamond and nothing worked, at first it was just to protect earth. When she met Garnet she realized that there were other gems who had their own love, hopes, dreams, and compassions. Thats when it became an army who wanted to live their lives on earth. Rose likely thought there was no way the war would stop unless pink diamond was gone, so that's what she did, I don't think she expected the other diamonds to do what they did. The crystal gems ended up spending most their timeafter the attack from the diamonds, rounding up old friends who were corrupted trying to find a way to help them when that didn't work the best thing to do was keep them in bubbles until they could do something for them. When she met Greg she fell in love, when she learned that humans started as babies and got to actually watch one, thanks to sour cream she wanted that, she wanted to make new life from herself. Then you have spinel and bismuth and honestly I think that she genuinely forgot about spinel because of the f*cking WAR that happened very soon after that, and listen like it or not bismuth attacked Rose because she didn't want to use the breaking point. If bismuth was brought back, it would've been very hard to explain why she didn't want to use the breaking point, but did 'shatter' pink. Also don't say "well she should've told the truth" because the crystal gems hated the diamonds, imagine their leader just being like "Yo guys I'm actually pink diamond" we saw Garent's reaction now imagine if that was an army all on board with shattering pink diamond to begin with. She just wanted to leave her abusive family in the past and become the new person we see in the beginning of the SU series. I personally think Rose/Pink wasn't a villain or a hero she was simply a flawed gem from an abusive family who later broke her family pattern of not caring about anyone besides themselves she never had malicious intent. Steven is the better version of Pink, he had better teachers, care and compassion, and he wasn't abused the way pink was. But even then he still ended up making some of her mistakes, I think it's fair for everyone to have resentment towards Rose in the show but at the same time, all of the main characters have done terrible things that people don't really mention. Like Pearl almost letting steven die (multiple times), violating Garent's body and trust, traumatizing and dumping on steven all the time, and getting steven involved in a police chase. Amythest torturing Greg by shapeshift as steven's dead mom, running away with steven, trauma dumping on steven. And Garent prioritized her relationship drama over steven multiple times. Greg never sent Steven to school or took him to the doctor (even when he probably should have), and left him completely clueless to his human family What I'm saying is you can't say that Rose is a villain cause in that case everyone is, thank you for coming to my TED talk

I always wondered what it would be like if rose were never a diamond or just a gem at all. Sure, earth would be at risk, but Steven would get a normal life with a mother in his life and Rose could finally be happy.

let me give my opinion on Pink/Rose. ... Pink wasn't exactly the best character, nor was she the worse. Yes, she did alot of horrible things to many characters. But she also protected the world and humans. ------------- 1, she left steven with all her problems, causing him lots of trauma and injury. (this goes to show in steven universe future.) 2, she left spinal for 6000 years all by herself without an explanation or a care for the poor gem. 3, She hurt pearl, badly. Leaving her behind, and the crystal gems. 4, she hurt all the diamonds which if she didn't wouldn't have caused any of the other trauma she did occur. (even if the diamonds deserved it, all the other things could have been prevented.) ---------- Yes, some of you may disagree with the little good things about her but it's sadly true. ........ She protected the earth, and tried her best to protect the gems. But that really did fail, she still ended up getting them hurt in the end. ----------- So my opinion, she was both a hero and a villain. ------- thank you.

A little opinion on me. Rewatching the show of Steven Universe, and hearing how “Pink was the Villain” makes me sad. Pink is not a Villain. So, in my eyes, Pink was looked at as a child- an annoying spoiled child. All Pink wanted is to be treated like Yellow, Blue, and White. They wouldn’t give her a planet of her own, instead giving her a playmate because they again, only thought of Pink as a child. Pink was angry, and as we see with Steven when he turns pink he breaks things. Like how Pink broke her original pearls eye. Pink didn’t mean to- it was the stress of things, and the anger of not being treat like her gem should be. Pink isn’t a Villain, Pink is a Diamond. A Quartz, and a human named Steven. Just because she couldn’t save everyone except Pearl and Garnet doesn’t mean she was a bad person. She loved, she was just looked down on- and that sparked anger. 0:00

I’m seeing a lot of debates in the comments and I wanted to add my opinion of Rose! I feel like Rose/Pink didn’t have any malicious intent. Yes, she screwed up and I don’t blame Steven and Spinel and even the rest of the gems for being resentful, but I feel as though if she was there to see what she caused, she would feel awful. I just think she was trying her best and really just fighting to get her way and to save earth. I think it’s just one of those situations where many mistakes were made and people have to deal with them but there was no bad intentions on anyone’s part it seems (except for maybe the gems). I just feel bad seeing people hate on her when she’s not a bad person, she just did some bad things. But please let me know if I’m forgetting something huge that she did because it has been awhile since I’ve seen the series
