Wow... this is what my great-grandmother and grandmother always cooked in my childhood. And now my mom is preparing for us. My kids love this healthy treat. Always traditionally with raspberries, black currants, viburnum and apple. your rosehip and hawthorn recipe is unique. thank you for your idea.

Very nice. I like to use strawberry 🍓 or blueberry homegrown that we save as much needed food for our wildlife.

Thank you for the inspiration! I've adapted your de-seeding rose hip pulp making method by using a food mill and then pushing through a nut milk bag for the hairs. This has saved me SO much time over de-seeding each hip by hand this season. Thank you Thank you! 😊

Lovely tutorial. Thank you. Does boiling the haws mean you lose lots of goodness from them? Is it possible to do this without boiling. I tried to prepare hawthorn berries once and found it impossible to get the seeds out. I gave up. I now think that maybe I’d harvested them too early and they hadn’t ripened yet so I’d like to try again.

Hi folks, did I hear you're making a book of recipes? Or did I imagine that? I'd love to buy a physical recipe book from you, for Christmas especially but anytime really. Let me know if there's going to be a book. Cheers!

Hi Sarah 😁 yes we're writing a book full of wild edible & medicinal plants, recipes and loads more, we're hoping to have it ready for Christmas but we're not sure if we'll be making that deadline fingers crossed 😊

@@homeiswhereourheartis Hooray!! Excellent news! Christmas or whenever. I look forward to buying it. Just one request - please don't make me go to Amazon to buy it. I deleted Amazon and never want to give them any money ever again. I'd rather buy it direct off your website if possible. Cheers! 👍😁

@Home Is Where Our Heart Is. All of the hawthorn I'm finding in my area - north georgia - seem to have worms inside. I belive moth larvae. Any pro-tips to avoid this? Do you guys ever have the same issue?

why do you simmer the hips in water, water dissolves vit c and you loose it

But it brings out the pectin which is a prebiotic:)

😟 My haws have worms in them.
@Maverick2024-g3v3 жыл бұрын
Pick them earlier in the season when they are firmer. Hawthorns smell like apple and attract the fruit fly which lays eggs in them when they are softer and over ripe 😊
