Thanks Julian for making high quality tutorials for trinity and ABRSM . I wish all the trinity and ABRSM students can come and listen and learn from your tutorials, especially people who do not have access to good teachers in their countries.

This is also the best video of this piece . It’s much calmer and the notes are clear. Well done

It’s certainly a good waltz that mixes both major and minor .

Thanks Julian. Beautifully played. I find it useful whereby you show the sheet music over the keyboard as you play through the piece. Also i think i understand rubato more now. Personally, I prefer the second version - it seemed more emotional. I've subscribed. Thanks again.

I liked the second interpretation. Had great feeling and pathos, unlike the first one. It’s.a haunting melody. Thank you very much.

How to use the peddle please? Per sim for first line. How about the 2nd and 3rd lines? Any paddles needed? For the Ped each bar, does it mean I need to use peddle for the rest of the song? Thanks

Yes, keep using the pedal throughout this lovely piece.

What feel that we need when playing this beautiful song?
@JulianLambert5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the question though I'm not quite sure what you mean. Can you explain what you mean by 'feel'? Take care,

Emmmm,when I play this song,I fell that is like a classical style song😂,when I use the pedal ,it will be noisy😂.So what is the feel that I need when play this song?

thanks so much for making this see through music sheet piece and hands on piano. it makes it easier to learn and also when somebody asked me to play impromptu and i don't bring my music i just open this lol i like the 2nd version better, i think it gives more rubato in the beginning so you stress the articulation on the first note of the bar. it sounds more "moving". i also like how "clean" the voice of your pedal. This is quite similar with my interpretation. I will be playing this in my recital on 23rd nov. i am quite nervous with memorizing the left hand parts and moving hands really quickly. any tips?
@JulianLambert5 жыл бұрын
Best wishes for your recital later this month. As for tips, play slowly to 'teach' your hands and fingers those tricky bits.

This is such a nice channel!! I took my grade 3 years ago but have just started training to become a music teacher so I'm trying to get my piano skills improved (not that I'm starting with grade 7 pieces :p) but it's so great that you've taken the time to make all these helpful tutorials. Thank you!

Gorgeous, esp 2nd version. Reminds me of Debussy 'La plus que lente' Would love to hear your interpretation of that. Thank you Julian. You inspire ancient adult re learners like me

Is this a 20 century piece or romantic period piece?

20th-century ...from the 1980s I think.

I’m playing this piece . I tried it out today it was very difficult because of the accidentals . This video helps me a lot ,Pls can you suggest how to play the accidentals ? Thank you
@JulianLambert5 жыл бұрын
The accidentals ...yes it is tricky to read, you are quite right. Just take it slowly to unravel what the composer is saying and, if you can analyse the chords to work out the progression, I find that can help. Good luck!

Beautifully played both but I definitely would choose the first version. It has a lot of character. Possibly because of the use of the tempo. But it feels that is played in a higher level of mastering the piece. Am I wrong?
@JulianLambert5 жыл бұрын
Good morning Beatriz, I was very interested to read your feedback. I THINK I recorded these two performances back to back at the same sitting, though there may have been a cup of coffee between the two!☕️ I didn't set out to make the two performances different (or even the same for that matter), just two performances to show, albeit subtly, how details can change. It's a lovely piece and well worth the study. If you have a moment, do play Richard Rodney Bennett on Spotify. 😀

🙋♀️👏🏻👏🏻good morning Julian! It takes a lot of musicianship to play way. I wouldn’t dare for an exam.
@beatrizmezzadra27645 жыл бұрын
Julian Lambert i repeat, that jazzy tempo, you’ve got to master very well the piece to do that. Honestly I don’t know the level required in 7th grade? I don’t have Spotify. But Im very happy and trying to learn from your videos.
