I didn’t see the Queen sac during the game, although I could smell that there might be something and I was trying to find it. But when I saw your face looking at the engine with that position on the board it instantly became obvious to me. Crazy how easier it is to find a tactic when you _know_ there’s one.

9:49 and interesting line here could be: sac the queen Qxf1 Bxf1 so then Bd5 pinning the queen to the king and forcing Qxd5 Rxd5 if Bc4 you might save the F pawn by forcing a trade with the horsey and you may end up with a rock up vs bishop Maybe Im missing something idk, Im not even close to a IM so😂 Love your videos Eric, greetings from Spain❤ Edit: Nevermind, I saw the review at 18:41 😂

As a 1500 rapid player this video is a perfect representation of this level of chess. Navigating a relatively sharp position, a few wonky moves, some moments of true resourcefulness but ultimately missing some important tactics. Next game: falling for some preparation you've never seen before and losing instantly.

During the game I was thinking that after white plays Nf5 you could play Bd5, forcing the queen to move, because Qf5+ was no longer possible and Nxe7+ would be met with Nxe7 successfully guarding f5 again. You would win that bishop and be guaranteed to trade off the other bishop

OK, my rating today is around 525. I've had brief periods above 600 but normal right now is high 500s. Honestly I feel like this rating is under rated because I get some good games at this level. We usually both make mistakes which is part of the fun I guess. Sometimes I make it through a game without too many mistakes and the game review often gives me an accuracy above 80% and thinks I'm above 1000, so I think dumb mistakes are still my main problem. I'm really enjoying this series though. I've watched them all so far. I really appreciate your calm demeanor. I think it makes it easier to learn. Thanks so much for all that you do!

There's a good lesson that even a very strong player can get into trouble pawn hunting and giving the opponent the initiative. Eric's queen got stuck in the centre and White was good enough to exploit this. Players at 1450 are good enough to do that, but struggle more when they are under pressure (even if a pawn up). I wrote that comment about the first game before I watched the second game. Just what I was saying: a player at 1500, sadly, is going to grab pawns all day. Qxb2? They can't resist! Then, when the strong player has the initiative the position becomes almost impossible to play for a 1500.

Consider giving yourself a handicap, like only playing the "egg opening" (e pawn, g pawn, g pawn move in that order, first). Or only hunt Rosen Trophies in general. It will be interesting to see where you can get being at a clear disadvantage and you'll have something to blame for your losses to preserve your ego while also getting used to rated play in general. I fully get rating anxiety, but there are ways to face it.

I'm here before the analysis of the first game. I think a better idea in the beginning when white is attacking your pawn on e4 is just to give the material back and prioritize fast development. By the time they played the Nf3 move, you had moved your queen twice and they forced it to move a third time. Then, they made your light square bishop move twice. Meanwhile, they had three pieces developed and were prepared to castle. If you were playing that exact position against a player of a similar rating, I think you might've lost. Again, this is all before I've seen the analysis and I could be missing something
@nGAhGENVH0Ul

Paused the video and thought it was knight checking king, but that was wrong because white pawn doesn't have to capture it can move forward and knight wouldn't have time to stop it. Also, the tactics of sacrificing the queen is a good one, it would've been an Eric "oh no, my queen" moment.
