Just invested in a presto 23 quart pressure canner, nearly went for the far cheaper pressure cooker. I'm glad now that I spent the extra, it means I can just follow recipes and not have to worry if my setup is cooling too fast to be safe or guestimate extra processing time. I'm over here in the U.K. so I'll have to double check my quantities for conversion but American size mason and ball jars are easy to get here. Thank you for these videos, gives me confidence that I can proccess safely at home

Since you don't actually cook the mixture any longer after adding the chicken, is it acceptable to add the chicken directly to the jars and then add the rest of the mixture over the top? That way you make sure to more evenly distribute the chicken?

Hi Pam! I was just wondering if the chicken, since it is raw packed, could it be divided amongst the jars first before the stock/veg mixture is ladled over top so that the chicken would be evenly distributed? Wonderful video. It's a must before winter is over. My husband had a trick to open the lids without denting them too. He uses the flat side of our hand bottle opener/paint lid opener and puts the flat side between the thread closest to the top between top and jar and gives a slight tilt of the wrist and it's off. I didn't even know that. I do now. Our jars get that deposit on them too. We have lime in our water. I tried putting a splash or more of vinegar in with canner but then the rings come out looking old and ready to toss. I find that if I use vinegar to clean the jars before putting them in the pantry, it's real easy to take it off. Thanks for this wonderful meal plan.
@annieanderson6112 Жыл бұрын
I've just learned that it doesn't matter how the rings look as long as they screw on. The canner that taught me that says its "a tool not an engagement ring" so the looks don't affect the use. That makes sense to me.
