@chaitalisarkar91546 жыл бұрын
Suparna Bose, the rose fortunately is a very sturdy plant. Keep it well watered and in the sun or if it's very hot at your place, then semi shade. Manure it once a month. Keep snipping the tips. And mind you, the flowers won't be as gorgeous and big as in winter.

Thank you for this video. You have lovely and healthy rose plant, Chaitali ji. I bought two rose plants (one indian and the other is english) when i got them home they have quite a few buds which though bloomed but didn't look very healthy like they were at the nursery , Now both have stopped flowering what could be the reason?
@chaitalisarkar91545 жыл бұрын
During the summer season the rose will lose its charm, flowering less or not flowering at all. It'll pick up after the rains when the temperature will cool down a bit.
@cgniks66406 жыл бұрын
Hi Chaitali! Lovely garden and lovely you. I too want to add roses to my garden but m confused with too many varieties in nursery - button rose, English rose, Indian variety, all year flowing varieties etc etc. Can you suggest few varieties for beginners.
@chaitalisarkar91546 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nikky!! The Indian rose is extremely hardy, flowers well but don't expect a variety of colours or great size in it!! The English rose needs care but a huge variety of colours!! Button rose is cute, will bloom in clusters & of button size! All year flowering is not very reliable in most places, but truly live up to its name in higher altitude places. Depending on the space that you have, try one or two of each & then you can increase your collection!!😊😁👍

ma'am , its indeed a very useful video . Rose is my fav plant . The problem is it needs a lot of care . I am just a novice .......I have some 23 variety of English rose in my garden . Problem is the weather in Siliguri , place where I stay is humid & its already raining for atleast 10 min every day . Mine is a north facing garden . So this winter I transported them on roof top . Now due to sunburn I brought them down . Give me some good tips based on my situation . Secondly ... can I repot them in the current scenario & season ? please advise
@chaitalisarkar91546 жыл бұрын
Yes I remember Siliguri weather, washing machines were unheard of then & my mother had a trying time drying our uniforms!! Rose is fortunately a sturdy plant. See that the soil is well drained. Don't close the drainage hole. Keep it on the terrace so that it is sunned & the rain can cool it. No this is not the season of repotting, wait until approach of winter. Don't trim the ends too, it'll rot the plant.

Check if the new shoots are from towards the base, close to the ground. Immediately remove them, they will never flower & probably grow so much that the grafted stem will be dwarfed & gradually even die!

Hello mam i planted a cutting of rose and it also started realising buds bt the buds not grown faster. So what can i do to make them grow fastly plz tell
@chaitalisarkar91546 жыл бұрын
vinay kumar, give your rose bone meal and compost. Usually rose grown from cuttings take a long time to flower, because it is not a mature plant. So for flowering, it's always best to buy from nursery, where the stock is of a mature plant, into which the scion is grafted. All the best👍!

Archana Naik, remove three inches of the soil. Make a mixture of compost, cow dung, bone meal, rose mixture and refill the pot with it. Also check if the drainage hole is open and if roots are coming out from it. If so, then you have to trim the roots & repot in a new pot. If the pot is not terracotta, then reduce water too.

I loved your video it's so well presented. Roses are the queen of all flowers and we love them. I'm struggling to grow roses in the Middle East heat. Each cool season I buy a few plants only to loose them after the summer heat. One question; is it necessary to change the soil each year or can we just add some organic material to improve.
@chaitalisarkar91546 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the appreciation! See if you can shift the pots to a shaded area. Yes it's necessary to change the pot. New and fresh soil will be nutrient rich, and with the roots trimmed, there will be better absorption of nutrients. However, if it's difficult to change the soil, continue with regular, once a month feeding of manure. All the best! I'm sure roses will bloom through the year this time!

After seeing your videos, I feel like nurturing my plants in a more organized way. I want to do the following - 1. Repot my plants, and prune the roots at the same time. 2. And also, should I regularly water and fertilize my plants in between?
