Having watched DE three times and now, I have seen the first season of Osman, I think that the actor Burak Ozcivit, is handsome and probably perfect for his role as Osman. His sword fighting skills aren't as fluid as Engin's, but that is down to individuality and different acting strengths. His horse riding skills are exceptional! I feel that the script in Osman is weak and the storyline isn't as well thought out. At times, it is rather far fetched, this isn't the fault of the actor, but of the writers, whom I feel have rushed this season and left many loose ends. There is also some very bad editing, especially in the last scene where the Kayi flags are flown over two sides of the castle and then as Osman flies the flag in the middle turret, the flags have disappeared. They need to make the next seasons much slicker, less drawn out and they need to spend more time on attention to detail, as they did in Drills Ertugrul.

Agree with you I think they rushed into it this is supposed to be the main series as ertugrul was made to show how the foundation of the ottoman was built and how he raised Osman. They need to take their time and make it live up to its expectations

The reason many people didn't watch the first three seasons as soon as they were released is cuz historical dramas aren't as popular as romance drama. And yes Altan wasn't that famous cuz he is older ( the previous generation actor. My dad's generation). But even with all those setbacks he still made people addicted to the drama by his acting and made ertugrul a household name. He deserves all the love he is getting and Burak is a handsome guy he has his good points but he really needs time to grow. I wish Altan received more money for what he did. I felt sad when I heard his salary. I am rooting for both the actors after all I still want to continue watching Osman.

@zaria kelvin the info in this video is not authentic. This is a clear lie that the first 3 seasons of diriliş ertuğrul were'nt a hit in turkey. I searched alot through the official channels of turkish media (especially after watching this video) and found out that the first 3 seasons of this drama were a massive hit in turkey as well breaking all the records (despite of it being a secular state). Initially the producer decided to make only 3 seasons of it but considering the demand of public they created 2 more seasons.

Burak ozcivit is one of the hottest and most attractive Actor of Turkish showbiz I have seen him in Kara sevda as Kemal soydere and fall in love with him (Like millions of kara devda fans) he is absolutely magnificent in his role ..But I started watching Dirilis Ertugrul after kara seva and I really felt that Engin Altan was excellent as Ertugrul he made his mark As ghazi..He was not known much before Ertugrul series but he made people follow Dirilis ertugrul by his magnificent acting skill and the Noor of his face you can actually feel.. Besides people are more used to watch him as brave muslim warrior so they compared burak with Engin..But remember that burak can not copy Engin as an actor he needs to find his own space...But I still felt that burak looks more like a model (Bcoz he is so handsome, his walk and his beautiful eyes)when he enters on the screen I see him As a kemal soydere (He is unforgettable in that role) so this might be the case..But who knows what comes in near future... But yes Dirilis Etrugrul was much much interesting than kurulus Osman...(My personal view)

Although I'm huge fan of Burak but I wasn't satisfied at first sight of kurulus Osman, but later he proved himself worthy for this role. Engin wasn't famous until 3 rd season and people comparing Burak with him from even 1st episode. In season 2 Burak is much improved and sensible according to his role. Its not Burak's mistake that storyline and script is weak but he is doing his job well. Hope for the best for the rest of seasons.

For me first it like strange when this actor in the role of great Osman. But episode by Episode i feel it's ok. Finally then realized that he had improved lot. And the last I convinced that this role is very suitable for him. I enjoyed Kirulus Osman
