Thank you. I've done very well since then. Some of my earlier videos you can hear my labored breathing. A cardiologist discovered my problem when a lung specialist didn't. I'm breathing well now thanks to the repair of an atrial septal defect. Except for a few age-related issues, I'm blessed with good health.

You can also write to me at [e-mail] ... quicker that way. The skirts on the bottom of my cages I made myself using an elastic band inside a hem at the top. I bought remnants of cloth and put the cages on top to measure them for size. I don't know if the cages have a brand name. I bought some at a bird fair years ago and others online. They are 30 inches long, 18 inches wide and most are 18 inches high, although some are higher.

Watching all of your videos - wonderful. Really want to buy a Lutino/ pair from you but live in Vancouver area of BC Canada. Even looking up Custom rules to bring them into Canada if I could drive down to get them. Also interested in a pair of Splendid/Scarlet Chested Parakeets. The only breeder I know in Canada has quit raising birds due to health issues. We only have one pair of Splendids right now, but hope to add another. Meanwhile, our Bourkes are very prolific and beginning to mate in preparation for second clutches. Five of our current 12 baby Bourkes are still available, tame and sweet. Can we put budgies and Kakariki together in one aviary

I don't think you'd have a problem, especially if the aviary is spacious. I've never owned a Kakariki, but they sound adorable. One owner said, "They can be kept together with others of their kind and are not known to be aggressive. They can be kept with other smaller safe species such as diamond doves and some finches in mixed aviaries." As for myself, I've kept Budgies in an aviary with finches, so I shouldn't think putting Budgies in with the larger Kakariki's would be an issue. Best of luck!

Can I put a Rosey Bourke and Scarlet Chested Keet in together?

If you only have two birds they will probably enjoy each other's company, especially since both are Grasskeets. Note that Bourkes cannot breed with any other species, only with their own kind, so mating won't happen. If both birds are male and one or the other is mature, there could be some rivalry during breeding season. So watch them closely. The Bourke is larger than the Splendid, so your Splendid might become intimidated by the slightly larger bird. Odds are in favor of a happy friendship, however. I don't recommend adding a female Bourke in with two male birds of any combination, however. That could cause aggression and trouble. As long as there are just two birds, you should be okay with combining them in one cage ... be sure they have adequate flight area though. That's especially important for Bourkes.

Answered your email. I get lots of “junk” emails on the frontier.com account, and it’s more difficult to sort out the important email, like all of that about birds. If I keep the bird email sorted into [e-mail], it helps.
