I hate bringing politics into this, she was one of the first celebrities that went up against Trump,She’s one of the first that saw through his BS.And he ruthlessly attacked her because he was such an a hole. She looks good and she sounds good.

She also was one of the first celebrities to immediately say we had no business going to war with Iraq after 9/11 when we all knew … the politicians knew … but we’re too afraid to tell the truth about Bush and that war effort until it was too late. To call out the illegitimate, faux ‘weapons of mass destruction’ lie. She knew it would hurt her career and she’d get ripped for being supposedly unpatriotic but she was absolutely correct.

Too many people forget how universally beloved Rosie O'Donnell was back then. "The Queen of Nice" with her Koosh ball cannon, random Broadway jukebox next to her desk, and Elmo popping up everywhere (years before Kevin Clash would even have his own fall from grace). It's sad that all we recall now is her post-Rosie skater haircut (which was awesome), a split-screen with Elizabeth Hasselbeck (who?) on "The View," and Trump finding such glee in making her conservative America's favorite "fat bulldyke that-should-havve-never-been-cast-as-Betty-Rubble to hate on." Rosie was a treasure for a long time to us and her instant downfall -- far more hate-filled and damaging than anything postergirl Ellen Degeneres ever had to suffer - should remind us how horrendously uncivilized we've become as a country to have a man speak such public cruelty about any woman and be rewarded the Presidency. Shame.

Most of America took his side because she said 9/11 was an inside job, and the establishment wasn't going to have her say that and get away with it. Right then, that was total proof that Trump was not truly their enemy, for they bedded up with him real cozy as he attacked her over and over.

Over 30 years ago, I had a colleague who “co-owned” a house, but was dissolving the “partnership”. Honestly, it didn’t dawn on me that she was gay. And she was tight with the boss, also gay, in retrospect. I was dense, but sadly, they were hostile and condescending to me. If they’d been honest (no small thing at the time), I would have been open and accepting. I just didn’t realize, as so few people were out. We had another colleague who was out (devastatingly, he and his partner died of aids), and I felt nothing but admiration for him.

It caught me off guard how much it affected me to see her as the owner of the speakeasy in the show. I don't think I realized just how much Rosie herself encompassed lesbian visibility for me growing up, so to see her character acting as this gateway for Carson (and to see how that episode played out) was a really powerful experience.
