RVV-SD is the commercial name for the new R-77-1 ( military designation ) or Product 170-1 ( producer's designation). It is in serial production from 2015 in Moscow's plant GosMKB 'Vympel'. In fact, this is russian modified version of the old soviet R-77 ( project RVV-AE) with only russian components and parts. So far, they produced several thousends of them. R-77-1 is in operational use from the beginning of 2016. One of the main differences between the old R-77 and the new R-77-1 is in the solid fuel rocket engine. R-77-1 has single-stage solid fuel rocket engine as old R-77/E ( R-77E for export is serial and operational ) but with more fuel and new chamber .That is the reason why is R-77-1 heavier then R-77/E for around 20kgs. New rocket engine has also new more narrow nozzle( can be seen at 0:38) which gives more thrust ( total pulse ), thus R-77-1 has much better energetic/kinematic potential. Vmax or max true air speed of the missile is almost 5 Mach.With old R-77/E it is possible to engage big incoming air target( bigger frontal RCS) from max 80 kms ( as max authorised launch distance with launch parameter 'Dr max 1' ). With new R-77-1 all of this is possible from about 100 kms and it is in the same level of the US AAM AIM-120D AMRAAM. Also there is difference between radar seekers. R-77E has only active radar seeker type 9B1348E ( for ARH/guidance in terminal phase of flight) ,but new R-77-1 has completely new dual mode active radar seeker type 9B1103M-200PA with ARH mode (works in Ku-band or in the 12-18GHz frequency range) as the main one and additional SARH mode ( works in X-band or in the 8-12GHz frequency range ). Both modes can work separately or even simultaneosly .It is very hard and practicaly impossible to jamm this radar seeker when both modes work simultaneosly . Besides radar seeker type 9B1103M-200PS , R-77-1 possess another one and it is type 9B1103M-200PS where we have passive mode ( PRH-passive radar homing on the radar illumination source) besides active radar homing mode . This version of R-77-1 can be used in complete radio-silence combat mode. Besides those two subversions ,R-77-1 also has another two subversions ,one with radar proximity fuse and another with optical (laser) proximity fuse. Export version R-77-1EL ( operational in Chinese PLAAF and Indian IAF from 2018 ) has only laser proximity fuse. There is some more difference between old R-77/E and new R-77-1, Product 170-1 has two-way data-link ( max range of the radio-correcting channel is 60kms ),has better new INS or BINS ( strapdown INS ),has much better ECM-resistance and better HOJ-mode posibilities. Of course, Chinese PLAAF already has R-77-1EL for their Su-35 and Indian IAF has R-77-1EL for their Su-30MKI. 'EL' means export-laser ,so that version has laser proximity fuse.

Well, I actually liked them (just only for defense). Sadly, our days of our military being the contemporary-misnomer of a _dept of defense_ hasn't existed since WWII, which previously as ironically called the Dept of War. Now? We're just a bunch of bellicose assholes. Obviously we care about our servicemen; I'm a Marine vet, of course I do. Not that it changes anything, but I think the absolute homogeneity in the dogmacrat congress tells us something; bc who in their right minds believes so many people could agree about anything without some coercive force demanding acquiescence to this orthodoxy..? Yes, they've always pressured congressman with dirty tricks, but I think the CIA & FBI makes it their priority to find not only career ending dirt, but criminality to hang over these people's heads to ensure lockstep. Thus, what they're doing to Trump is just more of the same to the insiders, as it is consistent with the NYT both disseminating classified materials FROM the regime, and approving prosecution of Snowden and Assange. Most of the time ideological biases is enough. There is no AAM with designation K-77M but there is new AAM called Product 180 ( only for new Su-57). Military designation is R-87. By the way, letter K is used for test version of some new AAM and letter R is for serial/operational version.

Disagreed: It needs a 2nd stage to ensure high-velocity terminal performance and an AI (machine learning) algorithm to avoid ground clutter and confusion by EW. There's also an IR version I believe (a WVR missile) which should use AI or ML to learn to avoid flares, too. Presently, missiles are often defeatable by jet's superior energy / kinematics and due to limitations in guidance. It'd be most ideal to use the tandem guidance from within the missile in conjunction with a second perspective to disambiguate the target's location...which RU jets are often better situated to do bc they have multiple radars facing not only forward and sides (cheeks in the PIKA-M radar I think) ... but also I believe some have them in the rear "stinger." All of your ideas are good, but I don't think they're as important as those I mentioned; stealth doesn't matter much when the UV from the motor makes it obvious ... even the AIM-54 was 'hypersonic' (kinematically); but it'd still have a very low probability of intercept. What I'd really like to see is RU frantically upgrading it's RADAR across the board from PESA to AESA (if not with GaN). And even upgrading Su-30x and Su-34x and Su-35x to have modernized cockpits ... all of which is useless unless they make equivalent investments in the salary to their pilots (they lose too many to airlines), increased hours per year ... and absolutely investing heavily into Flight Simulators, which are apparently not only old but too few. Likewise, as much as RU has very good SAM systems, they should cooperate with China and India in a project to make absolutely superior SAM which are invulnerable to SEAD. And, they must either make their EW adequate to destroy over 95% of drones (UVAC, UAV, etc) or make them adequate for less expensive AAA to destroy them. While RU may have the best EW in the world, that's limited to ground EW. They absolutely NEED aircraft (ideally in 2 seater Cy-34, which they'd need to make hundreds more of) for aviation EW. It's not enough to deter the US with threats of destroying the planet; they need the conventional means to obliterate any misguided belligerence of the US / NATO without engaging in a suicide pact. Right now, they have an absolute industrial advantage. But that only matters if the conflict is protractive. If the US / NATO were able to levy an incredibly succinct attack, the industrial advantage doesn't matter. And that means protecting their SAM and being able to contest the skies. Right now, RU lacks the quality to compete on a 1-to-1 basis, and (if claims about the F-35 and F-22 kill ratios in Red Flag are even remotely true), may suffer losses of 10:1 ... and the US combat inventory is over 2,500 jets. And that's ignoring NATO in its entirety; but the Rafale, Gripen, Eurofighter, etc., are all very capable aircraft ... in addition to another 1000+ F-16 they have. So even if RU could preserve a 1:1 kill ratio (which is optimistic in the extreme), they'd be in severe trouble. And things like drones could exhaust their (outstanding) capacity to mfr missiles without adequate EW, directed energy and AAA to neutralize them ... of which, requires a massive proliferation of RADAR devices as well as modernizing / upgrading them to detect smaller and slower moving objects ... which are difficult to detect without efforts to make them low observable (stealth). While idiots in the US like Sandboxx news and Cappy (Task & Purpose) berate RU bc their tech isn't as good and their pilots don't get as much training (which has much less to do with RU ability and has everything to do with the priority RU places on a massive military budget) ... in reality, the US appears to be demanding that Russia make themselves much much more difficult to get belligerent with. Bc RU knows they're never more than 4 years or a dishonest election away from having both a compliant / bought and paid for media parroting the military industry's talking points to get us into a war ... as we did in Ukraine. Anyone who thinks it's "unprovoked" or that it was a surprise should ask themselves why the US was conducting surveys of Crimean residents about whether they identified as Russians or Ukrainians (shocker: ~85% said either autonomous or Russian, and that was before a bunch of nazis hijacked the leader the donbas and crimea overwhelmingly elected even according to Wikipedia) ... AND!! Even asked them if they thought "violence" was an acceptable means of protest! Do something for Chinese PL15 or else Russia will loose its market in middle east, south east asia and Africa. Pl15 uses dual pulsed rocket motor which gives it range over 180 kms. Nothing stops them at all, this is for export. The R-77M has multistage rocket motor and extended range, but it is not as urgent for Russia because they already have the R-37M with 400km launch range from the MiG-31 that can also be used at reduced range from the Su-30/34/35/57 and MiG-35. Export model of the R-37M is RVV-BD, whose range is 200km and is for export. What they wont be talking about is a scramjet powered missile a class above Meteor...

It has max launch distance against big incoming target of 300kms ,in the same level as R-37M carried by the Su-35S e.g. Reason is simple,Su-35S or exported Su-35 can launch R-37M( ME) at max 18 kms of height with max launch speed 2.35 Mach. MiG-31BM on the other side can launch R-37M at 22kms of height with launch speed 3000km/h ( true air speed M 2.8 ) thus the max launch distance( launch parameter Dr max1) is 400kms.

Bt it's a reality that English is most spoken language around the world and we can almost communicate anywhere around the world with English. It's just a bridge of communication.. take it that way. Similarly I think Russian is very common mode of communication in Poland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Latavia, Lithuania, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and even in Goa ( India). 🎉🎉
