On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

If you go by the books there are a lot of newer a2a missiles that have longer range, higher speed, better off boresight capability, more maneuverable, larger pitbull radius, or a warhead with bigger lethality zone; but Raytheon really knows how to make an accurate seeker, and this is where the AMRAAM truly shines.

Remember that most of those missiles are intended for use against larger craft. They are heavy. That makes maneuvers against a fighter harder, and become a liability in close engagement. Like slinging 500 lb bombs in a fight. And each long range missile on a plane displaces a medium or short range missile that is more useful against fighters. There is definitely no magic bullet missile though. It is all tradeoffs. Currently

While the AIM-120 series is an excellent platform it realistically does not hold up to the likes of the Meteor or perhaps even the PL-15, the DOD and the U.S military are acutely aware of this and are attempting to alleviate this with the development of the AIM-260 JATM, what little we know of that program (relatively), it appears to be the next gold standard in long range ARH missile technology.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't, by subtracting where it is, from where it isn't, or where it isn't, from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance sub-system uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is, to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position where it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event of the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has required a variation. The variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too, may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computance scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is, however it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subracts where it should be, from where it wasn't, or vice versa. By differentiating this from the algebraic sum og where it shouldn't be, and where it was. It is able to obtain a deviation, and a variation, which is called "air"

Hey GS I’d love to see a video where a jet like the F35 can shine, it’s obviously not strongest as a solo dog fighter but is really good in conjunction with other aircraft, could we see a video series where a given jet is set up for the most success, the mission plays to the strengths of the jet? The offset videos are neat where a jet performs where it’s doesn’t play to its strengths but I think it would be neat to see a jet shine, is the F/A-18 hornet best as a dog fighter or more as a strike/attack aircraft; the A10 close air support videos are grey cuz we get to see what the A10 is built for
