Despite weeks of sub-freezing temps, James Kalm, chilled to the bone, rides his bike to Manhattan's Lower East Side, and pops in to view works in this two person show. Ross Bleckner has been a visible presence on Downtown's painting scene for decades. Over that period he's made small works that presage, and run parallel with his major compositions. This is his first display of these small paintings grouped together. For his contributions, Volker Eichelman selects "extracts" of text from two of Britain's "greatest eccentrics" William Beckford, and Stephen Tennant. These snippets of text are collaged onto luscious grounds of impressionistic brushwork.

Love it. Those bubble pieces are like an updated chiaroscuro. If I was teaching up there Id have my students go to this show to see all the different ways an artist can experiment with paint

Can NOBODY film an art gallery viewing without non-stop camera movement? I've seen so many of this type of video 'experience' which leave me motion-sick. For the most part, a simple still presentation of a piece would be sufficient, with occasional movement for pieces with a highly-textured or 3D element. Other than that, stay still! Take your time and let me savour the artwork, rather than dragging me through, kicking and screaming, with half the pieces barely in focus if at all. This should be about the art, not about how quickly one can get from one end of a gallery to another.

FreedomJunkie do you even watch the channel? It’s part of the style, that’s why it’s called half assed productions.
