To: World Friends: Please find someone who could speak CHAVACANO. It is a language/dialect that is spoken in Zamboanga in the Philippines. Chavacano is a group of Spanish-based creole language varieties spoken in the Philippines. Then let's compare them with modern Spanish and Portuguese. ^^

just FYI, Gallego doesn't exactly have influence from Portuguese, it's more that they're brother languages. Old Galician is the origin of Portuguese, it was spoken in the Kingdom of Galicia, of which northern Portugal was a part. Later the south of that kingdom got it's independence from the main king (think empire with multiple kingdoms) of Castilla & Leon, and they founded portugal. At the beginning they spoke the same language in Galicia and in Portugal, and later they started changing a bit, Portuguese becoming what it is now (in Portugal), while Galician has some modern influence from Spanish, but is generally closer to Brazilian Portuguese, because that variety of Portuguese didn't go through all the reforms they did in Portugal.

31:57 correct, the Philippines are actually named after the Spanish Emperor of the time "Felipe II" or Philipp the 2nd... Specifically they were mostly conquered and colonized by the inhabitants of the Kingdom of New Spain (now Mexico and Central America), mostly warriors from the indigenous tribe of the Tlaxcaltecas, that fought with the Spaniards to conquer the Aztecs in Mexico-City (Tenochtitlan) as well. The Tlaxcalans were loyal Spaniards until the independence of Mexico (and probably after that too). Then the Philippines was conquered by the USA and made it's own "independent" nation. 50 years later the first president of the Philippines Emilio Aguinaldo said the following: "After the Philippines, I love the mother country Spain and someday I would like to go there. The Americans betrayed us." "Yes, I regret in large part having stood up against Spain... Under Spain we were always Spanish subjects or citizens, but now, under the United States, we are only a consumer market for their exports, if not pariahs, because they have never made us citizens of any U.S. state." and "I have always been very fond of Spain and in the days of war I always ordered my soldiers to have great respect for their flag. I have always loved and continue to love your country as my own mother."

"Other local languages in the Philippines, such as Ilocano, Visayan and Bicolano, retain Spanish words with original pronunciation. In contrast, Tagalog replaces 'R' with 'L' and uses native terms; for instance, 'Domingo' (Spanish for Sunday) becomes 'Linggo' in Tagalog." But other languages still use Domingo.

Fun Fact that we must not forget. We are not saved by Americans regarding PH vs Spain War, we are winning the war that time, the Spaniards just doesn't want admit and submit/loss to Filipino's by selling the war to the Americans who later invade the PH never forget people. We must learn our kasaysayan that it just doesn't revolve to Spanish, American, Japanese era we have our own Native Rich Culture, we owe this one this to our own ancestors who fight for our freedom. In my opinion these colonizer they don't even conquer the whole Philippines just a portion, especially Mindanao or Visayan with a Muslim culture who are known for being brave.

If she mentioned those other words she won’t be able to show them the connection with Spanish. Also many countries don’t often have 2 or more ways/languages of saying 1 word/object/phrase. If anything they’d be confused especially since we count in English, Spanish and Filipino on occasion 😂

I think it’s because she’s referring to the more common words Filipinos use on a daily. For instance, people would normally say “Nasa banyo ako” compared to “nasa palikuran ako”. The latter is just weird and I dont think even the elderly still say palikuran.
