Back when these were new, I wanted one badly. Too bad I was only 12. lol The only thing that drew me away was that the Judge was still available. The T37 was the lowest price midsize Pontiac. The GT37 was a way around the pricier GTO, but still just as fast. I heard it might be faster because it was quite a bit lighter. All options on the table. The Lemans was equipped with a lot more sound deadening and various details that made it nicer throughout. Still, this was a highly desirable car and I would love to have one. Badly.

The GT-37's are pretty rare. Definitely don't see them very often, especially with a 4-speed. I never understood why Pontiac put the "400" call-outs way down on the rocker panel's like that. Always loved the GT-37 trim package. Great looking musclecar!

Chris Nizer they only made about 700 of them

Do you know any history about them

@@isaacvisser2904 Overall production (1970-1971) of T-37's was nearly 36,000. The 455 H.O. models were VERY rare...only 54 were made. But it was a great package. The GT-37's just came at the wrong time, the muscle car era was coming to an end. They became what the GTO "Judge" was supposed to be: a stripped down, no frills, relatively inexpensive muscle car. I can't imagine what a 1970-71 455-HO GT-37 would fetch at an auction but with only 54 ever produced they would probably cost a fortune. Thanks and have a good one my friend!

Had a special order 1971 Lemans GT red with gold stripes down the side black vinyl roof 400 2 barrel, air power steering, and brakes would do 160 mph top end, One of a kind car...damn I miss it.

GTs are awesome...you must have had a 2.73 axle with the 2 Barrel setup....ah not quite with you on the 160 though....lol not physically possible with that car. I'm a believer up to 140....been in a ton of GTO, GS 455s etc...I own a 425 HP GS 455, and with 3.08 will do around 135. Trust me on that.

I owned a 72 T-37 (not a GT) and it had a 350 auto with buckets seats and console. Very nice car, and like this one its rare. My only complaint was that it had fender skirts and I hated them. The skirts pretty much knocked the sport right out of this beautiful sports car. Needless to say I took them off prior to painting it.

She is a tad more than just rare...only 572 examples made with 400 engine in '71 and more than half of those were automatics! Total run was 5802 cars of course most of the rest were 350 / auto cars - with only 69 built with 455s, some being HO engines...

AS it should...wow I wish my 1970 was that nice....I have a 400 4 speed PHS documented, however the old resto is cracking up. I Rebuilt motor to Ram Air III specs and damn she runs great. I drive the living berjeezers out of this thing -two tanks of gas every week May through October every year...Very few people seem to know about these cars!
