Employees are paid highly well at both companies. A data scientist with a Ph.D. at Uber makes several million dollars a year. Are you referring to drivers? Because they aren't employees at all. They are contractors. They can quit anytime they like and work whenever they want.

Both apps tell you prices before you confirm, so just check both.

It's pointless to compare prices while they're having a price war. Lyft being the underdog obviously will undercut more than Uber. If Uber was the underdog then they'd be cheaper. The bigger problem is that the two companies form a duopolgy. Once they go IPO in 2019 at which point they will have to prove profitability, there's a good chance that they will form a cartel and start fixing on prices instead of undercutting each other. This is good in that they will compete in other factors such as timeliness, consistency, safety, etc. This may even be good for drivers. But almost certainly this will be bad for riders.

Currently here in Detroit Michigan Uber is almost 2 1/2 times the price of a lift to go to the same destination furthermore the trip under normal circumstances cost anywhere from $10-$15 this morning Uber wants $44 lyft 15

75 cent per mile and then 25 cent per min for me, and thats fine. Throw in a nice x2 surge and Ill gladly wait in traffic with some one for 50 cent per min.

But be careful when using Lyft I had a bad experience where the driver should have picked me up in front of McDonalds and instead parked across a huge Blvd with gated barriers andf instead of turning around he left and i was charged a $6 cancellation fee. With Lyft it is too easy for them to get away with fees unlike Uber.. Every problem I had with Uber (which were few) like overcharging, was corrected. In the Uber app you can easily find a way to make a complaint and they investigate and tell you right away of a refund, Lyft is harder plus when I initally made a complaint it would say you cant be refunded for a cancellation. So use Lyft sparingly and under certain specific conditions otherwise use Uber.
