In a place like LA or NYC sure, but some cities like where I live (Milwaukee) has AWFUL public transit. All we have is the standard ol MCTS bus system, which continually gets cut every year. Less routes and many of them only run once every 45-50 mins. Back when I used to work at a hotel at the airport, I'd spend 2 hours commuting one way (just 13 miles total) between my two buses I had to take and the layover between them. In some cities, public transit just isn't reliable or reasonable if you have a busy schedule. To me, I'd much rather pay like $15 to save 1.5 hours of my time.

I’m pretty sure that the region you’re in is a huge contributing factor. I’m in Athens, GA and Lyft is by far always quicker and cheaper. I typically use Lyft probably 5 to 7 times per week and always check Uber’s price before calling the actual Lyft car...and Uber, on average, costs about $2-3 more per ride, which is HUGE!

It depends on the area, Lyft is usually at least $1-2 cheaper for me than Uber is unless Lyft goes into their surge pricing. But that being said, Lyft doesn't surge nearly as much as Uber. I find myself in more Lyfts than in Ubers.

BreakMyViolinHeart I’ve used it all through SoCal from LA(Where I live) to SanDiego and even in Colorado and it is ALWAYS more expensive even with the “discount” like Jenette said. Also they be only giving you like 10-15% discount when Uber gives me 50% off most of the time. I don’t care too much about discounts but it’s nice that I can take an Uber from LA to SantaMonica for literally $2 sometimes!👍🏽

I just checked! In Toronto, Canada, the Uber is twice as expensive as Lyft to get to the nearest subway station!... Having that said, I'm a loyal Uber client, and while I'd love to save money, Uber always offers me $4 off every ride... and I simply love Uber. :)

In terms of shared economy rides, Lyft is better tbh, you get from destination to destinstion no matter what. Uber you have to walk a few blocks sometimes. But uber is usually the cheaper option. if my rides are the same price, I would always choose lyft over uber.

This video truly doesn't matter at all. It totally depends on the market you live in. Even here in Florida and the Orlando area technically I live in Altamonte right outside of Orlando Lyft takes at least 15 minutes to get to me where as Uber takes 5 minutes to get here and the pricing is exactly the same with Uber and with Lyft. ironically enough my sister lives on the other side of town in downtown Orlando and lyft is way faster for her but it's still around the same price as Uber. The only problems I have with both of them is that too many of the drivers only speak Spanish and that sucks if they ever get lost or can't find you because they just canceled the ride so they can't call you if you don't speak Spanish.

I like Lyft more because my drivers who would work for both, have told me Lyft takes less taxes (or tip compliance) from them vs. Uber who takes more out of paychecks & tips. When I tip someone, I want them to get the most out of it & i don't think it's fair to Uber drivers that they receive less of their money.
