Thank you for the review. I bought one of these Two years ago, never shot it until very recently. Reasonably accurate, although for my “older” eyes I plan on replacing the front sight with a red fibre optic. I did have some loading issues but I plan on reducing the magazine tube spring a bit to rectify that issue. Overall, not disappointed for the price.

Nice review thanks! I have three of these R92's - all blued. 16", 44 mag, 20", 45 Colt and 24", .357 Mag. I have replaced all of the safeties with buttons (aperture sight on the 44 mag), and all of the plastic mag followers with stainless steel followers. My .357 Mag has a nice Marbles tang sight on it. These are great lever actions for the money - mine are all very good quality and shoot better than me. I tested a Missouri Bullet 240 grain "Keith" bullet coated with the Hightech coating and they shot into one hole at 25 yards. I need to do some more testing at longer ranges... Watching you shoot the Hornady Leverevolution - yeah you have to fully cycle these otherwise, they will jam on you lol - but they are robust and can take the brisk cycling.

I just got mine, and I'm so glad it came with the darker wood. The older models looked orange. It seems the ones out of Bainbridge have this finish, while the ones imported through Miami have the orangey tone. Could be wrong about that.

Rossi has really stepped up their game in terms of wood and finish, I was very impressed with the last one I handled btu obviously there are still some "friday specials". I love rossi 92s (I have 3 of them) but I've always hated the poor QC, I'd see a rifle I wanted in the store and it would turn out to be a turd, poor machining, improperly indexed barrels, sights etc. With the price of components I've been thinking of picking up a .357 exactly like the one you're showing. I shoot my .44 a lot with 215 grain cast bullets at 1,000fps, no reason I couldn't get the same feel with 180 @ 1,200fps, and save on lead and primers. You're not helping my wallet, that's for sure! thanks for the video!

I have an R92 357/38 stainless with 20" barrel the only thing I dislike about it is the fact it's stainless, I like my guns blued and wood. Mine like Fiocchi 38sp training loads and I can hit the 100 yd knock over steels every time, it also likes my homebrewed 357 158 grn TC over 12.5 grns of 2400.I swapped the rear sight for a Marbles bullseye since then it'll shoot 4" groups at 100 all day long and no issues when cycling. Since I bought it I don't think I've plinked with my 30/30 since.

I have an older Inter-arms pre-safety 357mag m92. Lately I have been using the Missouri 158grn RNFP hy-tek coated bullet with 13.5 grn of 2400. These shoot great at 50yrd. Seem to shoot well plinking at rocks on the hill beyond my target also.

If you havent, you can get a shorter mag spring that lets you get another couple rounds in. My 20" takes I believe 12+1 357. Helps ease loading pains too.

I owned a Rossi 92 Puma model. It was not stainless and it did have a saddle ring. I carried it for years in my ranch truck. It had a name, "Pet". I liked it so much I bought the same rifle but in .44 mag. The two rifles were exactly the same size on the outside so the .44 mag. had a much thinner barrel and after a few shots it would start spreading the pattern until it cooled down. I wore the .357 out enough it would expand cases to much after a couple uses that I sold it and bought a bolt action .357. The .44 mag. I didn't like and sold it to an outfitter as a camp rifle, bear protection. The .357 makes a surprisingly fine small rifle cartridge that never let me down. If it was within 100 yards it was a head shot.

Having only had this one since December, I’m really liking it too. My only complaint is the bulges in the brass. Did you see my video on the .44mag? I took a doe with it last fall. 120yrd shot. She ran about 30yrds and dropped. The .44 is a beast!! Lol

Any advice on picking a 16" or 20" barrel model?
@kentuckyrangetime9 ай бұрын
It was the round count for me. The magazine tube is the same length as the barrel so you’ll get 8 rounds in the 16” and 10 rounds in the 20”.
@lynnvandevander2628 ай бұрын
I have the 16 inch barrel and I love it! It is very handy and lightweight. Swings on target wonderfully and the 16 inch barrel utilizes the powder burn very efficiently because in those pistol cartridges there isn’t a lot of powder to burn so you don’t need a longer barrel.
@Cucurú-c9v4 ай бұрын
Yep. Too weak a load in a long barrel and the projectile may not come out. Didn't notice it, a follow up shot turns you nice rifle into a carbine. 😇

I have a model 92 357 stainless. Had mine polished inside shortened the spring to having 3 inches sticking out when the tube magazine cap is removed. It still has loading issues. But try loading with the ammo pointing towards the bottom of the tube. That seems to help.

Question- there seem to be a gap between the lever and the butt stock. Am I seeing that right? It doesn’t fix flush against the butt stock? It’s been a long time since I have had a lever gun, but if I remember right they always set flush. Has this changed?
@kentuckyrangetime5 ай бұрын
@@mrkevin02flip It does t touch on these. I do remember the 30-30 Winchester my dad had did touch but there was a safety button there it depressed.

The reason you had to feed issues because you cock your rifle to the left every time you cycle the lever. That can happen with any lever gun they even happens on my 30/30 Marlin

I've never considered using .38 Special ammunition in any of my .357's. They just shoot so much differently I decided if I want to shoot .38 Special ammo I'll shoot it in a .38 Special. I can use a much lighter firearm for the .38's.

I can't understand why the R92 has a 1:30" RH twist rate...
@kentuckyrangetime11 ай бұрын
It is an odd choice but seems to be the norm for those style rifles. Just have to run light bullets slow or really push the heavier loads to top velocity’s.
@usnchief133910 ай бұрын
Because Winchester had 1:30 twist for its early 1892 rifles. Maybe it was designed that way to deal with black powder/bullet option issues.

There is already 2 diffenet safety on these lever actions, why this idiotic button/lever??? First, do not chamber a cartridge if you are not ready to shoot (for example your gun is on the backseat or in the saddle holster). Second, the half cock position. One more, why???
@kentuckyrangetime6 ай бұрын
I agree completely. Lol From what I can gather, the extra safety is there for the sole reason of meeting the required US firearms import requirements. 😉
