The German tanks are amazing, it's nice that tripwire didn't make the soviets overpowered but I hate how they don't let us hop out of the tank

+Sik Lad It's nice that the game lets the actual strengths of the PzIII and IV shine through rather than giving them super-armour or retardo-cannons or some sort of gimmick pandering to the MEIN KRUPP STAHL crowd. The armour and gun are more or less on par with the tanks you're facing, but the extra crew in the turret and the better visibility make all the difference. For all the complaints about the IS-2 in the first game, when I actually started to learn more about WWII tank combat and read up on archived records, I found out that it wasn't so much the IS-2 was overpowered as many of the things which actually limited it in combat didn't apply in the game. Historically, the IS-2's gun was considerably more powerful than the competition and its armour was also very good. Generally, construction quality was what let the Soviet tanks down rather than design - it's not hard to imagine why when you consider some of these tanks were built in open-air factories as the sheds were erected around them, owing to the move to the Urals. After they were able to sort themselves out postwar, they put out some really consistently fantastic stuff.

IIRC the case behind the PzIII's gunner position is the toolbox and spares for the Mg34's. There should also be a box on/near the back of the gunner's seat with the ground kit for the mounted '34's.

Just fyi, the low quality texture "bug" is an UE3 issue, not an Ro2 specific thing. ;)

I think RO2 is the only UE3 title I've really played much of, so I didn't know that. Thanks!

actually the half-tracks and custom maps were the things community contributed. AFAIK all of the 4 tanks included were done by TWI. The only thing they did wrong was going with the tanks is to make the interiors so detailed, thus making it impossible to pump out any significant amount of vehicles, it took years for the T-70 and the PzIII to get added. They should have just kept the simple interiors of RO and just added more vehicle variety
@MrMrsirr10 жыл бұрын
At the TWI forums, some people have been discussing getting another vehicle into the game. We've found a chap who has apparently made vehicle models + interiors for quite a few different tanks. I don't know if that mean more vehicles soon, but there's potential.

I'm not sure but weren't the remaining German tanks scrapped for The allies?
@rossmum7 жыл бұрын
Their fates varied. A number were dug in as static border defences in Bulgaria and remained there for many decades. The French Army made use of Panthers for several years in addition to Shermans, and a few which had been captured were kept as testing and evaluation vehicles or used as museum pieces. By and large, though, I think that most of them were indeed scrapped.

rossmum Also the German panzer divisions were outnumbering soviet and american tanks due to Hitler's addiction to tanks the German tank builders also started using automatic traverses after late in the war I'm not positive but I think this may be right
@rossmum7 жыл бұрын
Sort of, as the later PzIV J model got rid of the power traverse to ease production. The larger tanks still had it, but their traverse was hydraulic and powered by the engine, so traverse rate was dependent on engine RPM (or in the first version of the Panther, locked to a single low speed). The allies outnumbered the Germans in tanks during all later stages of the war, because the Germans couldn't build them anywhere near fast enough and were less capable of repairing damaged/knocked out tanks. American and Soviet production techniques were lightyears ahead of the Germans and so no matter what the Germans did, they would always be outnumbered, a problem only made worse by their insistence on building ever larger and more complicated vehicles.

I played lots of RO2 and i find the russians were toned down alot in RO2 , ive played a bit of the original Red Orchestra and the russians were OP in it . i play lots of bot and when your trapped at spawn with 3 KV-1s in front of you and your in a stug it isnt a good time.

The tank situation actually reflected the real world a lot better than people seem to think; the T-34 and KV-1 were very rude shocks for the Germans early in the war, and although later-set maps give them guns that can handle the Soviet tanks without much trouble, the 85mm and particularly 122mm guns are badly underestimated by a lot of players. Where a lot of the problem came from was players not using the tanks to their strengths, in my experience. A well-played German tank will still perform well.
