Had plenty of both types of cars. V8s and turbos. Both special and fun in their own way. I'm actually a JDM fan so in general I'm all over turbos but I must say there's something extra unique and special about sitting in a v8. Most especially when it's cammed. It gives this sense of power that nothing else does. The sound, the car shaking on idle from that big v8 motor with that deep bass rumble. Nothing else like it. Also the torque pull from low of rpms is quite satisfying.

After selling my BF xr6t 2 years ago I decided to look into a commodore and settled on a fully optioned 04 VY Series II Ls1 Manual HBD with just 64.000kms , and ill tell you what ill never look back. Its slower yes ( by a fair bit ) but as for driving experience the SS is so much more enjoyable. Done the usual Higgins Heads and large Crow cam + supporting mods and its makes a healthy 300+rwkw. Cosmo purple with colour matched leather, just hit the 80.000kms. Up the LS & BARRA can't go wrong with either. I'm in the states so closes thing I can get to a Barra is a 2JZ-GTE or B58. But the displacement is what makes the Barra special. The extra displacement gives it more tourqe. But yeh a VE or any Holden if you spend the money on coilovers and whiteline everything it dies really well. Alot G8 guys over here throw the whiteline catalog at it with some crazy coilovers and man they are crazy fast around a track. Holden has always had pretty decent handling just needs a little help is all. The VF is a different story those are monsters around a track stock. So alittle tweaks here and there you got a weapon with a V8.

I've owned both in stock form, BA XR6T (auto) and VF SS-V (manual). The Ford had horrible build quality and spent a lot of time back at the dealer for warranty work, the auto transmission and entire driveline was clunky and tractor-like, but when it came on boost it was a maniac and thrilling to drive, but borderline dangerous when overtaking under hard acceleration due to wheel spin. The Holden was built beautifully, almost no warranty problems, and the 6.0 litre V8 was satisfying and effortless to drive and would just pull hard straight off the line, hill climbing often didn't require changing down gears, it just exuded strength and competence and sounded beautiful even with the factory exhaust. It's sad neither are manufactured anymore as there will never be anything like them.

Just install a turbo on the V8

@@kajak012 could buy another car for that cost. Plus the heat in the bay goes through the roof. Can’t daily it. Fuel use goes through the roof and your ac will be blasting air as warm as piss

I'm on the fence between Ford and Holden having owned a number of Commodores and Falcons. I do prefer the exterior look of the VE over the FG though. The VE seems more solid, especially in the rear end.
@lukeneill1568 Жыл бұрын
I own both. Fgx around 550whp and vf around 480 due to it not being reliable and added cost to try get the power out of the ls2. Clutches go in them. Slave cyclinders. Runs hot and not good for summer days. Diff is weak as for hard driving. Love the v8 though reliability and drive ability the fgx is better. Plus the 8 is a bit of nugget accelerating at speed on freeway compared to the 6
