I have exactly the same car, Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR, in the UK. They are VERY underrated! The Focus ST gets all the attention, yet the VXR beats it in every single way. I’ve had mine a couple years and I’ll be keeping it too, I love it 👍💙

@@chrisrosie0584 Those Astras are a bargain. You can get one for less than $25K and yet it will do 0-100 in less than 6 and a half seconds, plus they are far more reliable than the predecessor Cruzes. I mean the 1.6 Turbo Cruze SRi’s weren’t bad but the Astra RS/RSV is what they could have been.

When this car was launced in Germany in 2012, it produced the same torque (underquoted as per all German marques at 400 - my stock 2013 OPC pulled 439nm on the dyno) as the v8 BMW M3 of its generation. It was only 3 years later that MB with their A-Class AMG A45 unseated it as the most powerfull 4 cylinder engine.

I had the same car up until May 2021 when I traded it in for a 2014 VF SSV. Mine was the same colour, Arden Blue 2013 Opel OPC. Insane, one of the most underated hot hatches ever. Had the optional 20” diamond cut alloy wheels and optional bi xenon headlights fitted. The interior is mint and the recaro style seats so comfortable. So quick. Put it in sport/OPC mode, oh my what a car! Always wanted to go back to a V8 so I did 🙂. My Opel was mint only had 63,000km when I traded it in. What.a.car.

Owned one of these for a few years before people knew what they where and honestly I've owned a lot of performance cars and without a doubt this was the best car I ever owned for under 20K front LSD, stupid power the fuel economy wasn't bad either. Just to touch on the "torque steering" you spoke about you don't get much if any because it has that LSD in the front and not having an LSD in a front wheel drive car with lots of power is what causes torque steering to begin with not the electric assisted steering. alot of other points where missed that makes this car so freaking cool as well. but glad people are understanding what this car is now. It makes for an interesting story when you talk about an "astra" build for the Nürburgring.

@@ej5376 Yes, but Opel's... electric handbrake works like a mechanical one... it doesn't have the same stupid technology as, for example, VW. Poor instrumentation, I mean no temp gauge, no Oil Pressure gauge. It 's a turbo engine, why no oil pressure gauge!? HSV brought then out, did nothing to them save a badge or 2. @@RossReviewsau that's where I'm confused. I think it's no different to the holden version. HSV just stuck their badges on the opel astra H opc. I'm in south africa. And it's always been opels here. I don't think hsv and holden played any real part in making these cars. Other than giving them badges but the previous Gen is the much more fun car . Infact I think it's slightly quicker than the J Opc cause it's lighter. Hope you get to get one on the show👌
