While I am in that camp of tool fans who feel the lyrics make the song, I am also with you on hearing the overall sound first. They have plenty of songs that serve well on both fronts, and this it definitely one of them. Pnuma is a true masterpiece. I can definitely hear a difference in Maynard's singing. His diction is incredible in this album without being too awkward. He didn't really to a lot of the vocal acrobatics we've seen him do before, but I don't think the songs are suffering for it.

Plenty of live concert videos on KZbin that are examples of that. Their fans, if they want to, will learn the lyrics in English. I know that I have got some new Japanese words in my vocabulary. @@basslightyeah That's why I bought it at list price of $45 dollars the day of release from my local Borders Books. They received 6 copies on release day. @@heathcliff8624 I agree that it's great to get physical copies of bands you like and that it helps to support smaller bands (which tool isn't anymore). I own every Tool Album on CD. And I would've bought Fear Inoculum if it wasn't listed at such a high price, even the 45€ are too expensive if you just want the Album itself.
