The Aztec is so clear that when perceiving the sound source, I felt like I was right in front of it, hearing it in real life. Amazing microphone and amazing video. Kudos to both you and Matt.

I could not ask for more sir. Professional job, No waste of time or words and similar takes for all mic’s. You are the best I’ve seen at this so far and I have seen hundreds of similar videos. Other brands should pay you to demo their products. Been at it 60 years. I know how much effort it took for you to get to that point. Thank you.

Thanks for much for the comparison, I was impressed to find the 47 be brighter, more clear than the 87...They all sounds great. And some shine more than others on certain instruments, very interesting.

Thanks Camilo! This is a really well executed comparison of Roswell's mic lineup. I'm a proud Colares owner, and it's my first call vocal mic, but your video suggests I should use it more often on instruments. All 3 of the "upper end" models sound great, as expected. I found that I consistently preferred the X versions of the Mini series-the transformer really adds something to the sound. Thumbs up all around!

Aztech and K67X sound best to me. On electric guitar samples clearly (by sound and seeing the amp knob) the reverb is up higher (3 vs ~2.5) on the Aztech at 13:25 than the other mics that follow. Makes it hard to compare.

First of all, let me say that I think that this is a GREAT video! 🙏 It’s rare that audio gear review videos are done this well. Unlike so many gear review videos, you didn’t spend the first 15 minutes talking, or telling us how many pushups you could do 🤣, instead, you got right into the meat of the information, and that’s NOT all that common in KZbin land. 😉 The way you demonstrated the sound of each mic was also very well done, and, your playing was so nicely even on each take, that I was able to focus in on the sound of each mic, without being distracted by different songs and strumming styles, and, without any noticeable “jumps” in levels between each take…nicely done! As for the mics, the thing I noticed the most was, while each mic certainly had its own unique character (I consider transparency to be a “sonic character”, too) every one of the mics sounded great, and I found myself thinking that I would have been more than happy with ANY of the Roswell mics you demonstrated, whether I was working in the studio as a musician or as an engineer. FWIW, I was able to hear both the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between the mics, even through KZbin’s codec and reduced audio fidelity, and, on my iPhone speakers as well! (FWIW, I also listened through my JBL studio monitors, too, in an acoustically treated room, and the differences in the sonics became even more apparent). I’ve been waffling back and forth for over a month now, trying to decide between the K47 and the K87, and I’ve been leaning towards the 87 because of its transparency, but, after watching this vid, and hearing the 87 in comparison with the K47 and the K47x…man, I dunno, brother…you haven’t made my decision between the two mics any easier. 🤦🏻😉 I’ll let you know which mic I finally decide to get. 😉 A few questions (if you don’t mind): Can you tell us what mic preamp you used when recording these takes? Also, the Viellete you were playing at 10:15 into the video…holy cow! It sounds fantastic! Is that the “Mandolini” you mentioned at the beginning of the video? It’s got such a beautiful texture and tone! Thanks again for this video, it was truly a pleasure to watch and listen to. (Liked and subscribed!) Thanks, Camilo. 🙏😊

Im glad you found this useful!! Im pretty sure I went through an API 512c. I think both K87 and K47 are great mics. I think K87 is a little more neutral, almost feels crisp on the top end. K47 feels more mid forward. Theyre pretty different! Id almost say if youre gonna record several sources you may be better off getting both. If I had to take one to a desert island, I’d prob pick the K87 since I can “hype” the EQ in post. Where as recording several sources on the K47 in the same song may eventually result in having to remove high mids.

I found the colares to be a bit more balanced than the Aztec in these samples. It also brought out a bit more of the woody tones of the acoustics to me. The Aztec has a lot of top end that I don’t care for on most acoustic guitars, unless I’m trying to get a second acoustic track to sit differently in a mix.

Brilliant video thank you! We have had Mini K47 since 2018 I think and this kinda proves the feeling that Its like SM57 on steroids. Your comment on having all instruments with 47 is very relevant. The midrange would get over crowded.

Thanks very much for doing this comparison! 😃 I was thinking of getting a K87 but I think this has changed my mind to a K67x… If I could I would get the Aztec though 😮 blows the others out of the water on every example. Would absolutely love to hear a comparison of these mics on some other sources like vocals to be able to properly decide which is right for me but even without that this is the best Roswell comparison video by far 👍👍

Thanks man!! Aztec is definitely special!!! I love all the mics honestly. I wish I could give you a good recommendation... but I love both the k87 and the k67X haha. And they're different for sure. I guess 87 would be the one if you wanted something flatter, less colored. 67x has color for sure

Great demo Camilo! I have been curious about the Roswell mics and someday when I have some spare dough I wanted to get either the Mini K47 or Mini K87.. Not sure about the X models to be honest, they sounded a little congested into the midrange on most of the sources except the Clean fender sound electric, and maybe the ukelele. I am definitely going to have to listen to this when I get home on my studio monitors and cans, Earbuds here at work (decent sounding wired ones but still)

Great video! I have to ask, though, did you accidentally leave the reverb engaged at 13:25? I don't think the Aztec magically creates reverb, does it?
@CamiloVelandia10 ай бұрын
Yeah actually the cable on the reverb footswitch was crapping out and I didnt notice it had crapped out after using the aztec and didnt turn back on. I’d have to wiggle it a bit and it would come back, but Ive since replaced it. Good catch!

Do you find the colares that much different from the azetek? i understand that one has a tube and brighter high end while one is solid state with jfet, but both use a 251 capsule and go after that 251/ c12 sound. What do you think? In terms of quality, detail...
@CamiloVelandia4 ай бұрын
In my experience of using both a lot still to this day, they have a really similar sound. I feel like when pushed a little the aztec sounds a little warmer on the low mids, while the colares maintains a clean pristine present sound. Its very subtle. Theyre very similar.
@paulocosta30074 ай бұрын
@@CamiloVelandia Lucky me you still use them and have a fresh memory ahah In this video, i had the feeling the strings/strumming have more zing to it, you know... that stringy sound. It feels like the tube of the aztek smooths it out a bit more. But yeah, very very subtle. Thanks for answering! Might get me a Colares
@CamiloVelandia4 ай бұрын
@@paulocosta3007 I have the Aztec setup at my studio everyday, and I use it for vocals and acoustic instruments (guitars, mandolin, nylon, steel, banjo, etc). And I have the Colares in my bag, for when I go out to other studios to do vocals, which is several times a month as well. I never take my Aztec out of my studio, just because I'm too lazy to put away the power supply, etc. Colares works on phantom power, so it's easier to carry around.
@paulocosta30074 ай бұрын
@@CamiloVelandia I understand hehe Very cool! Oh, and i suppose a Neve 1073 "takes care" of that low mid warmth you mentioned! For the price difference it seems like a no brainer... I also like the fact that it looks u47esque and that it has that 47ish top end but that you can brighten without sounding harsh at anytime. Yup... This mic is a contender for me! Thank you once again
