Also, a quick shorthand, once you right click into Texture > Position, you can right click again and choose Rotate to get a menu that offers 90°, 180° and 270° (in windows, at least). To me, less fiddly for the rotations I use the most.

I needed this info a few days ago.... I'm a cabinet maker and struggled with MDF patterns with a recent project. The trick I used was create two different materials with the same pattern rotated 90º.

Thanks! My problem is I'm trying to rotate a default texture for a countertop end grain! Can this be done? I need it default to model correctly in my cabinet software. Currently it shows up horizontal, and I want the end grain to waterfall!

Is there a way to scale a texture-say corrugated siding-to a specified o.c. distance between ridges? Perhaps I could place a 4-inch geometry near the texture….Once sized in one place on the model can it be copied and pasted to other surfaces? Also, I know this is the iPad series, but on SU Pro, the four pins were all in a bunch. I will try it on the iPad.

Thanks Aaron, I'd be really interested in the non fixed pins video for textures, I haven't used textures that much before but I'm just beginning to, so these types of videos are a great help.

Some textures, like wood or marble, have a large sample pattern. When making a cabinet with drawers, SketchUp will always put the same part of a texture on a face. This repetitiveness does not look natural when all face textures match. I will move the texture around to different parts of the sample on different faces like drawer fronts or cabinet sides. This creates a more natural looking model.

Is there a way to color a texture? Suppose I want to show a piece of wood is stained a walnut color. How do I take the wood grain texture and make it dark chocolate brown? Or I suppose i have peg board, for which the default color is white. But I want it to be brown. How do I take the poke-a-dot and turn it brown?

Always good to review the basics. Thanks Aaron. I'll second what Hapsard noted and would also like a refresher on how to use the "white pins." I just downloaded Architextures and am curious about rotating those textures too like T Cards, just haven't started using Achitextures yet. A possible solution would be to create a surface that allows the orientation you want for the textures and use the eyedropper select tool to copy the orientation you want and apply it to the surface you want the texture on. This works on "normal" textures, but not sure it would work with Arcitextures. Also, who keeps giving you the one thumb down?

By the way, I think your suggestion is a good one. I was doing lots of modelling of medieval timber structures a while back and kept a cube with two different wood grains and an end grain pattern in different orientations close by to sample and apply. I think it saved loads of time.

Thanks for the great video series. In your example, if I know my bricks are 9 1/2”, is there a way to scale the texture so the bricks are 9 1/2” without a lot of trial and error and measuring?

Do you know if you can rotate architextures? The herringbone is cool, but can't rotate it

Once I import a material from Architextures, and apply it, I get the same Texture > Position options on right click.
