Nice work, The term your looking for, the cylinder head is slightly "concave" due to over heating.

how are we supposed to use the cht probes? I've been removing the spark plug crush washer but does that make more reach into the cylinder? if you don't remove it the probe gets all deformed.

Method 1, the CHT probe ring is supposed to replace the spark plug crush ring. If you use this method, simply cut off the uncrushed gasket. Method 2, install the spark plug with crush ring, torque to specifications, remove the spark plug and insert it through the CHT probe ring. Note, both methods only work properly with an undamaged, perfectly round CHT ring.
