British Paragliding Championships 2019 task 4

The last task of the competition saw a 103.5km down wind flight to goal via a couple of turnpoint along the route. The forecast was strong easterly winds again and so we used the easterly take off for the first time. Temperatures were also supposed to be in the mid 40s in the valley and so i chose to wear only a tshirt and speed arms for the flight (so glad I did). Just after the window opened, a bush fire started beneath us which got rapidly bigger with the strong east winds, this starting spreading up the mountain side quickly. A lot of pilots didn't even make it out of the start gate with many of them landing at the official bottom landing. I was happy to scrape out from low and get away from launch. There were no clouds on route and conditions were not half as strong as previous days with max climb of around 4.5ms. I made it into goal in 9th place bringing me 9th place overall for the competition.
