Rotel A14 mkII does not include a network player. There is no wifi and the ethernet socket at the back is for firmware upgrades and external control only. It is "Roon tested" only as well, you would still need an external device that supports Roon to connect to this amp. In terms of digital inputs it has 2 Toslink ins, 2 SPDIF ins, a USB PC in to connect your computer, Bluetooth, and a USB in at the front that natively supports Apple devices (you can connect an Android device as well but that requires an additional paid app on your device).

They used one of the lower grade TI dac chips. The PCM 1792 would have been better. I find it is poor of rotel not to use a better dac chip in the RCD-1572 mk2 CD player that costs more than a grand. AKM chips are available again, and they are better than the old AKM dac chips. Not doubt the TI chip is cost cutting.

This amp has a flat, emotionless sound

Totally agree. Never heard a more insipid amp.

Horrible. So frustrating to have spent so much in exchange for a characterless insipid sound. Was cursing my speakers till I realised the amp was a problem. Avoid.

Strange, the a10 and a11 mk2 sound great for the coin
